@@fikriyeyilmaz7724 Buy a well known brand, one that is easy for you to buy near you, and that you can afford. All the brands are good for all round use. Then when you are more experienced you can try the different brands and see how they are good for slightly different things. :)

You are welcome Lilette, and hopefully when the FIMO arrives you will have a better result with it. All fine here so far, but fingers crossed for everyone wherever they are, that they don't go down with the virus, or if they do, that it doesn't hit them too hard. Keep safe :)

Thanks, the board is one I bought at a big Craft show many years ago, but I have found it on Amazon UK (other stores will also sell it) so that you can see it for reference. Glass cutting Board - X Cut, search under glass, cutting, mat - www.amazon.co.uk/Xcut-13-inch-Tempered-Glass-Cutting/dp/B009W9BOGO/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1550664733&sr=1-1&keywords=Xcut+13+x+13-inch+Tempered+Glass+Cutting+Mat I hope that helps? :)

Fiona I have tried all day to make this motif and I wasted nearly 10 small aSquare of 10 grms . It was horrible. The clay was sticky and I could not control when I was pressing it after we put a groove on the bottom part, I was lost at this stage how to make it a diamond shape. My cane became longer and longer and much too soft. What can I do to harden a bit the clay. I tried to put a bit of corn flour to stop the sticky ness but then the clay became brittle. Can you help me please, I am so disappointed with myself .
@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lilette, how frustrating and disappointing for you :( I have just seen your comment on my conditioning clay video and replied to that. It sounds like the brand of clay you are using is very soft, and it may be too soft for the caning technique in this video. Cornflour definitely wont help it, but I have put a couple of suggestions in my response to you on the other video, which may be the answer, or at least help a bit. The two main things I can think of is a) the brand of clay and b) the temperature you have. Being in the UK I at least have the advantage of slightly cooler temperatures, and that can make a big difference to how the clay reacts. If you are in a warm climate then the harder/stiffer brands of clay such as FIMO Professional or Kato Polyclay may be better brands, or see what others where you are normally use. Please don't be put off by your experience, in all probability it is not you, but the clay itself that is not behaving as we would like. In order to do the cane work techniques I use, the clay should definitely not be sticky before you even start. Although if you do have very sticky clay, the 'painting' techniques would be nice and easy to do? I hope this has been of a little help at least, and reassures you that it sounds like a problem with the clay, and not with you. :)

Could you tell me the name of the beads you used in the center of the snowflakes? Lovely snowflakes !!! Going to make a bunch for Christmas this year.
@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals
@FionaAbelSmithPolyOriginals 5 жыл бұрын
In the UK we know them as Chaton's. They are glass crystals, faceted on the top, with a pointed prism underneath. To be honest flat backed stick on gems to add afterwards would also look good ,a nd are probably easier to get hold of :)
