My college's fire alarm system activated today due to the a problem with an FM-200 (fire suppression) system in a server room. The cause was most likely a heat detector, as the room was reported to be very hot when maintenance personnel arrived. Fortunately, they were able to respond in time to prevent a discharge, which would've meant a costly tank replacement.
For those of you wondering why the signals in the old building aren't sounding, I assure you nothing is broken. They have it set up that way because there's a brick wall separating the two buildings, so they don't need to evacuate the whole campus the moment the alarm trips in one building.
Signals:
- Simplex TrueAlert speaker/strobes (indoor fire alarm)
- Wheelock MB-24-G10 motor bells (outdoor fire alarm)
- Wheelock Exceder HSR-A (agent release alarm)
