IDEA FOR GARAGE FIRE ALARM TESTING: maybe try the fog machine in the attic of the garage to see how long it takes for the fog to go down to a smoke detector. Also, if you're looking for an auto extinguishing solution for your generator building that's not sprinklers, you should look at the AFO Fire Ball things. When there is fire, they explode and launch powder everywhere, extinguishing a small fire.
@nics-systems-electric2 ай бұрын
I'm thinking it probably wouldn't ever make it down to a smoke detector the front area might but I doubt the back area would as it is sealed off and I may look into that type of extinguisher

0:02 - Yes, Nic, we all know you have one of the coolest garages in North America, stop rubbing it in. 🤣 Seriously, though, your garage is a physical representation of your career progression. A hands-on résumé instead of a paper résumé. It's OK to flex a bit. 2:36 - I was going to suggest this very thing, but it seems you'd thought of it as well. 11:14 - LOL ...can't wait for Part 2!

Damn you got this one up pretty quick! Nice to see it coming together. Regarding that module, if it were me I'd just keep the Notifier one on there. As long as it works, it's great for a system in your home.. And not paying extra $60 for a module? Very worth it.

I suggest making the low/high temp monitor shut the generator down if it’s above a certain temperature like 93°C+ so the generator doesn’t overheat
@nics-systems-electric2 ай бұрын
It's not necessary really as it just to give me a heads up that the generator will exceed its maximum temperature soon because it will shut down by itself at high temperature. And 93 Celsius would be way too high that would be 199 Fahrenheit

Nic great idea. On setting the fire alarm to turn off the generator. But I do have a on your particular setup. I do you know you have said that you do not have natural gas. But this question I think this is a valid question for those who have natural gas setup. Is it possible to put a electronic shut-off valve on a natural gas line for the system to close the gas valve when it is not running. And to open when the generator is running? And I mean with the auto controller.

Nick, you should put a outdoor advance outside the front door of your house if the house catches on fire and call 911 to report the fire the fire department can see the flashing strobe as they arrive
@DozIT2 ай бұрын
I don’t think auto-dialers to 911 are legal anymore, or if they are it’s not best practice. Which is where the whole 24/7 monitoring services came from. He does have SMS notifiers which are the next best thing (aka self-monitor)

Would it be better to remove all wires from terminal 3 on the control box and connect terminal 3 of to control box to com on the fire alarm relay and the. Connect the wire that returns to the control box enclosure to the normally closed terminal on the alarm relay and then the other end to the generator and add a negative wire to the normaly open of the alarm relay to turn off the generator and to prevent the generator controller from trying to start the generator again
