Fire Alarm Test #50

Test of a 4100U system in an industrial facility. Original panel was a 4100 classic which was later upgraded following various building expansions. Most of the original areas are equipped with mechanical horns whereas in the plant and production floors you have sirens which are all coded by the panel and set to a low pitch tone. Each section of the plant is covered by its own transponder. A few of those can be seen in this vid.

They are electronic sirens in which the oscillator itself set to a very low steady pitch. By doing so it somewhat mimics a electromechanical horn. You don’t see this often. I believe It was custom specced by the facility early on.

Are the federal signal and older faraday devices having broken strobes or did your camera just not pick up the strobe flashes? Also, what are those black bullhorn style horns with the strobes underneath them? Don't recognize that device at all?

All strobes & visual devices were functioning properly. As mentioned in the description their are sirens out in the plant. I believe that is what you are referring to. As for the exact model of those I’m not sure.

Wrong. It’s within 6’ of the top of the facp given a 15’ or greater ceiling. Yes the backbox is angled in due to conduit however that is not deficient.

That’s the coding for a walk test. Whatever zone the pull station was pulled, or zone which a smoke detector was activated in, that’s how many pulses the alarms generate.

The Plant Sirens are set on Monopitch Tone, So Yes, It will Run on Continuous During Normal Activation. Im assuming these are Explosion-Proof Edwards/EST Sirens

Please someone explain this to me, I was at my church and activated the fire alarm for a pre-school fire drill. All the alarms worked except for the NAs in the sanctuary, what are some reasons for that? And why would you still have to call the alarm people to tell them, even if you press the drill button. Shouldn't pressing the drill button tell the panel to not dial out but still sound ?
