I love the 5208 panel, I like how you can test the same zone over and over again without resetting the panel.

At least this house has Gentex Commander 3 horn strobes not to say that they are pleasant but I'll take them over SpectrAlert Advances anyway and the commanders can be set to different tones as well.

I agree. Passwords on fire alarm systems, in my opinion, are completely unnecessary. I have a Simplex 4005 which I just replaced the CPU on, and the password was custom. A Simplex tech told me how I might be able to figure it out, and I did get it, thank goodness. Now is this system actually monitored, or is it local? And what are state homes, and what kinds of people live in them?
@brettman2738 жыл бұрын
msj191961 Don't even get me going on Simplex. They should stick with hundred story buldings and sell parts to third party dealers who service them after customers get tired of paying gigantic service contract fees. 3000, 3333, and 333 will get you in to most of their panels. This rant does not apply to Simplex techs who, by and large, have been nothing but cool with me.

msj191961 it's probably something like section 8 or group homes for such divisions as MHMR and so on as for how they get them could be foreclosed properties, abandoned, etc.

I can see a password for protecting high level areas of the system like disabling horns when doing certain inspections, zone isolations, and other system changes you wouldn't want someone with bad intentions being able to sabotage the building's fire alarm system say a group of thieves may do it so that help couldn't be summoned same would be true for the security system. My one complaint with SK is that panels that HAVE a password require the password to do basic things. My friend worked at a nursing home that had an SK system and they make you put in the password to silence and reset the thing. The sequence is time consuming for example say your SK system is set to 1234 for the password to silence it you have to press silence followed by 1234 then press silence again. To do a complete reset is press reset 1234 then press reset again.

@brettman2738 жыл бұрын
Gary Beltz These are not private residences, they are state homes. Pre-built some cases; in other cases they were private residences obtained by the state. This one was originally a private residence but had an addition put on that made it more than twice its original size. It now has nine bedrooms.

Quick question, if I silence the fire panel? How do I reset it if I have a trouble signal? Is the silenced fire panel going to be an issue ?
@brettman2733 жыл бұрын
If you silence it and don't reset it, that zone will just stay in alarm and won't be able to trip again. If anything in another zone trips it will go back into alarm. If you reset when a panel is in trouble it will most likely just go back into trouble.

Steven Lebbing It is. Specifically it's a state home for developmentally disabled individuals. I do the inspections for these as well as three privately owned companies that provide similar services. 267 homes and dayhabs spread out over a three month rotations. Plus around 12 schools, dozens of restaurants, daycare centers, and private businesses. Two full time jobs doing nothing but.

Vinnie Versaci This is a subjective arguement; volume setting, tone type, room type and size, wall and ceiling material, floor type... all affect perceived volume. The only valid technical comparison would be to test them with a dB meter in identical settings, and even then the perceived volume is subjective. If it were me I'd tell him his girfriend says hi and likes me better... but I'm not really a good role model.

and why do states require commercial fire alarms in a developmental disabilty group home in a residential neighborhood everytime my home does our monthly fire drills the neighbors comes out complaining and getting mad that its to loud and we got a 110 volt outdoor spectralert advance horn strobe mounted outside which makes the neighbors angry every single month we have our require fire drills please explain why it is required in a residential state ran house brett thanks vinnie
@GaryBeltz7 жыл бұрын
My guess is that since the people living in those homes may not be able to call for help if a fire broke out that the states want monitored systems you notice that in the case of this video the system could only be set off with smoke detectors I didn't see a single pull station. Developmental disability or behavior health people would be prone to pulling false alarms.
