I’d call it “The Hearth”, basically the base of a fireplace, and also can be interpreted as a symbol of home, light, warmth, and a place of gathering for family. A fire can symbolize destruction and death, but just like the Phoenix Empire, can also bring light and warmth to a house like the Ant Room.

AC Question of the week: One of the signs that a colony is moving, is when lighter colored ants (usually nanitics or younger ants) are permitted to go. The colony will usually start bringing brood out too. From experience, I've found that smaller ants in these polymorphic colonies are usually the ones that take care of the brood. For some reason, these ants almost always leave last. I'm not sure why, but when moving a Camponotus chromaiodes colony, I found this to be the case. Thanks so much for getting me into ant keeping. 3 years later still going strong!

I think the reason those ants leave last is because those ants are a bit smaller and weaker and take care of the brood, so the other ants go first. If most of those ants died than they'd still have smaller ones to take care of the brood to ensure the colony won't die out. If no ants raise the alarm than it's safe for the smaller ones to move the brood to the new location.
