Because Luke wouldn't immediately help, when he can and wasn't happy to help even when he wasn't asked. And how could Lorelai make room for a dozen people in her own home? Times are harsh, Luke is a really good and helpful friend with a big diner. It was her best option

Of COURSE Lorelai could've called Luke first, told him the Inn caught fire and could she please use his diner to feed the guests, but this is where we forget that IT'S A TV SHOW. There's no humor in the more rational approach...

After watching this, I realized where was the actual manager of the Inn? Or the owner of the Independence Inn? And where did Lorelai get the money to buy the groceries? SMDH

Lorelai WAS the manager of the Inn, and the owner Mia lived either out of the state or the country, I think. Lorelai had to take care of the guests immediately

i always thought it was so disrespectful how she took advantage of Luke like if was normal he would hand his kitchen over to Sookie, who is the most annoying brat ever. Terrible charcter. So full of herself, exactly, as Lorelei. and then she told kids to annoy Luke insted of being grateful. What a huge asshole.
