The Fire Blowing Tube also has a double use. In a survival situation, if water is scarce, it can be used to suck water out of cracks and other hard to reach places between rocks or holes in trees, etc.

I have been using one of these since my Boy Scout days. As I remember we called it an inspiritator. Nessmuk is the first reference I have found for one however I am sure it predates him. I admit the ones I have made do not have a collapsible stainless steel end pipe. I use 1/4 inch copper tubing from a hardware store with matching plastic tubing. They serve every function you demonstrated and arean invaluable asset, purchased or DYI. Stay safe and cover your 6. Sergeant Major

Thank you so much, John for making this available and sharing the use in the video. I will definitely be ordering one. I hope you will also consider putting together the bib hose and tubing to use with the sillcock key. I believe I have found the bib on Amazon with your link. The problem is finding the right tube to connect to it. plastic tubing comes in numerous diameters and I have spent more hours than i care to admit trying to figure it out. i would just prefer purchasing a kit from you.

I really dislike crouching down with face close to fire source and out of breath with compressed lungs due to couching. Needs to be done from sitting position This is the most underated issues for sure and missed in almost every camping/suvival/bushcraft video. So thanks bud 👍

Great idea. May I state the obvious: using that device also adds to safety if one has a huge beard and can keep more distance from lets say a bed of coals. ;-) I can also see this come in handy to work with wood when burning the hollow side of a spoon with a coal for example.

OK, but blowing your "exhalation" into the fire pit replaces the oxygen that's in the "nest" with carbon dioxide............which doesn't burn. And wouldn't "pinpoint replacement" (which the interior end of the hose provides for) dissipate the concentrated heat that the fire needs to keep going?

This just gets me thinking to what primitive man may have used... maybe a hollow reed or bamboo; maybe a bone from a bird's carcass? It's still a useful idea, no matter how new the 'tech' is.

I want one but I want one where I don't have to blow air. By now they should do it all for you
