Fire Crackers and Cozy Coffee ~ Prep for The Chicken Stew

We are getting ready for our annual chicken stew. Jessica and I are getting 2 of the staple items made today. Fire Crackers and Cozy Coffee. So join us as we prep for our Community Chicken Stew.
Fire Crackers
1 box of saltine Crackers
1&2/3 cup oil
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
4 to 5 Tbls or (2 envelopes) of ranch mix
2 Tbls red pepper flakes
Cozy Coffee
2 cups powdered creamer
1.5 cups hot cocoa mix
1.5 cups instant coffee
1.5 cups sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Hi Leslie. I've used the canister of Walmart Great Value brand ranch dressing mix for the firecrackers when they were sold out of the Hidden Valley. No one complained. I used the rest for cooking and couldn't tell the difference. You may want to consider trying it. It's more affordable...especially when you make 18 bags 😂

I make Cozy Coffee all year long! I only use 1 cup of sugar; 1 cup of hot chocolate mix and 1/2 cup of unsweetened Hersheys cocoa powder.( I’ve found it is easier to mix it all if I use my sifter to sift the Hersheys cocoa.) When I add the tsp of cinnamon, I also add almost a tsp of cayenne pepper. It wakes me up for sure! 🧡

Flip the top of the bag down and it will stay open to make it easier to fill. Keeps the zipper section clean also. I do the same thing with my vague seal bags.

Saltines were always a 1 lb. box (16 oz.). Use that as a guide to whether it has shrunk. We have become addicted to the fire crackers but I can't bring myself to use that much oil. They're still really good.

@@marianne57 I find that it works better if I only put 3 sleeves crackers in a gallon bag & I use 1/2 to 2/3 cup oil. With 4, they nest & the crackers on the outside soak up all oil & seasonings. I've tried using more oil and turning them lots. Some were really greasy.

we do this mix with our oyster crackers but we do bake them briefly 350 for 5-8 minutes, they are delicious for sure. we also do a sweet variety for the "weaklings" lol they're also good this year we're giving pumpkin pie spice a try for 1 first time so half will be apple pie half pumpkin. we also make our own ranch dressing mix we prefer it over store now

Love your cozy coffee! When I make mine I start with a 12 ounce cup and put it in my Keurig and set it for 10 ounces water. After I get my water I add two heaping tablespoons of cozy coffee and one heaping tablespoons of Coffee mate vanilla caramel powdered creamer and then I add my whip topping. Delicious! Leslie you & Jessica are adorable together. You look sensational in your green top And on my phone it looks like your eyeshadow is a perfect match-1 very stylish lady. Where I live that size container of the Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix is over $10 @ Wal-Mart so it's out of my budget. We don't have Sam's club and Costco 's membership is too spendy for 1 person. Where's the chicken stew recipe? Is it OK to just make the coffee coffee with the mix and not add the Liquid Creamer that you use to top off your cup? Does it taste just as decadent with whipped cream and not more creamer in it? Most of the liquid creamers are way too sweet for me. BTW I love Taster's choice French roast- it almost tastes like brewed coffee. I think because it's bigger granules and it's freeze-dried is why taste so close to the real thing. The "spicy ranch" season is the one my neighbor used wen she made them n turned me onto them. I've made two different recipes of this in the past that I've seen others make on the internet but none with near this much oil. I will have to try these to see how they compare. I use Uncle Dans Ranch Seasoning I get at Amazon because it doesn't have MSG in it. I've also made your cozy coffee recipe.
