The fact that in Sacred Stones, it is the Dragon tribe the ones that tried to repel Formortiis the most tells me that Formortiis is what awaits to every other FE Continent/Universe if dragons do not intervene that world in a way. With being such as Ashera/Anankos, It is much more different since they are beings pf creation and order. Maybe the powers such as Ilmulhu, Duma Faithful, Loptyr, Elibe's Dark "Elder" Magic, Formortiis, Grima, and Agarthan are intertwined in a way. Maybe Formortiis is the first but probably not last manifestation of a demonic Dark being in the series. It gets even freakier when you realize Spells like Medusa/Hel cast a manifestation of an demonic being bringing a haze of attack to the target. Spells like Ilmulhu/Yotsmungad summon some type of spectral being to harm the target, like if they are coming out from some other dimension.
@ZerkMonsterHunter
@ZerkMonsterHunter 3 жыл бұрын
I mention it in the video but even more so by this comment, since fomortiis is the only true demon we see in the series, let's consider question that Duma and Loptyr are both dragons, explicitly; the agarthans in three houses are clearly supposed to be the dark dragon tribe even though I don't think we see them take their draconic forms, likewise, grima is a homunculus Frankensteined from Naga's blood. My headcanon is that those things that you mentioned were all influenced by the same being to corrupt them away from their Draconic (or scientific origins in grima's case) and want them to reflect forms of whatever demons exist within fire emblem's deepest lore. I'd love to see fire emblems interpretation of hell and I think if they keep going with stuff like Fomortiis it would be amazing.

I've just realized I forgot to mention Medeus. He literally becomes a Shadow dragon in the Archanea games. It still ties in with the fact that there might be some twisted Magic Looming in the FE Multiverse that has the power to corrupt beings beyond darkness.

Oy Don't put Ashurnera next to Anankos. Anankos is a dragon, but Ashurnera is a genuine *god,* and the only being in the series who earns that title. Don't forget that half of her being effortlessly ended the world. If it hadn't been for Yune, who is also Ashurnera, that would have been game over. Ashurnera has yet to be equalled. She is the single force in all of Fire Emblem who would be more at home in a cosmic horror game than a TRPG. You cannot fight Ashurnera unless Ashurnera allows you to fight her.

Perhaps what’s more interesting than Fomortiis himself is whatever came before. Think about it, Fomortiis is clearly over 800 years old, but he must be younger than civilization on Magvel, because otherwise, he could have stamped out humanity before they rose up. This, in my opinion, leaves 3 routes he could have emerged from. There are the possibilities of him being magically summoned and being a preexisting entity, like you mentioned, but he could have also been created through magical means. I’m of the belief that only the last possibility can truly explain the revisionist history. Think about it, if so much as mentioning pre-Fomortiis history isn’t allowed, it must be because allowing any of it to be uncovered could be dangerous. And what would be more dangerous than potentially learning to create a second Fomortiis? And for what other reason would the Manaketes be erased from history than being the ones to create Fomortiis? Why would Morva lead the charge against Fomortiis, but be revised out of the historical record? In my humble opinion, the logical conclusion of all this information combined is that Fomortiis was created by the Manaketes, and their close proximity to him on his creation led to their numbers being greatly thinned, Morva feels some kind of guilt over Formortiis’ creation, either because he was personally involved in it, or by virtue of being a Manakete, and this guilt is what leads to him personally erasing himself from history, alongside the Manaketes. But hey, that’s just my pet theory.
@ZerkMonsterHunter
@ZerkMonsterHunter 3 жыл бұрын
Interesting theory. I think it's personally though more likely that he was the product of some sort of human Folly than he was summoned by the Manakete

Would love to talk more Sacred Stones with someone else who actually appreciates the writing of the game instead of everyone else who goes "hurr durr game is easy and lords are boring lul" There's a reason Sacred Stones breaks into my favorite FE's, and it stands out from the other ones because it's the writing and characters that do it, not the gameplay (which I feel still has a lot of good ideas, people just secretly want enemy stats to be higher and that would, for once, solve a lot of issues). EDIT: Also, Karel in FE7 bears the epithet "The Sword Demon" but that's a bit different.
@ZerkMonsterHunter
@ZerkMonsterHunter 3 жыл бұрын
thanks, glad you enjoyed, and yeah sacred stones' writing just does not get enough credit IMO, the game is stellar in that respect. as for the karel thing, that was kind of an error in my reading off the script, as i should have clarified that Fomortiis and Idunn are the only characters to bear the title where *the term demon is meant to be taken literally*

I missed this, yesterday was my birthday. The demon king was such an anomaly to fire emblem. Honestly what makes Fomortiis interesting is how he operates in Lyon, I absolutely adored their heroes support convo! I do like how you reference the Fomorians, ancient rivals of the Tuatha de Dannan (note that the Nabateans are named after famous Fomorians in FE3H.) His weapon: Demon Light, seems to be some Luciferian inspiration. This makes me think he could either be a fell dragon of a unique order, or even an experiment in the same vein as Grima. Also, I agree with the assertion that Lyon was faking in both paths.

I know this is a year or so late, but I want to point something interesting out, since you mentioned the Fomorians! The city of Lyon was originally called Lugdunum, named after the half god Lugh, who was half-Fomorian and half-Tuatha Dé Dannan. Lugh was Balor of the Evil Eye’s grandson and he ended up killing him in battle with a magical spear, freeing the Tuatha from the Fomorians’ oppression. Lugh could also shut one eye to perform magic and could shapeshift into a raven. The city of Lugdunum had coins with ravens on them. Researching that, I couldn’t help but think of Grado, the legendary hero who ostensibly lead the Five Heroes and saved Magvel from the Demon King and his monsters, and how he could wield both dark magic and axes. Lyon himself, as Grado’s descendant, is a rather ironic name because Lugh was a fierce warrior who wielded a bloodthirsty spear (Ephraim?) and was described as radiant with a shining face. But anyway, it’s interesting to think about.

When there is a Sacred Stones remake, I want Fomortiis to be standing at his full height. Not hunched over. Come to think of it, his GBA form does not have all the glowy bits that his cipher card has. His eye isn't even as bright unless he is unleashing Demon's Light. Perhaps we are not even fighting him at full strength? Also, the lack of information on Fomortiis could be a result of the nations attempting to force the population (outside of a select few) to forget the horrors that an actual demon wrought. So nobody would go looking to revive that ancient evil and possibly force the continent to relive the horrors of the past. It also confirms the "names have power" aspect, only it seems like it's more that knowledge of Fomortiis is what grants him power. In the past, perhaps it really took the full might of the many heroes and sacred weapons to bring down Fomortiis. Perhaps he was common knowledge, his name, his power, everything. During the events of Sacred Stones, only the story of the Five Heroes defeating the Demon King is told, and much of it is revised for the population's own good. As the story progresses, it seems only the higher ups of Rausten's priesthood know about it, Morva, Myrrh, and a small cult that Riev is a part of alongside Lyon and Knoll. Perhaps that's why he is a fairly easy boss fight, and why Fomortiis is so one track minded about his resurrection: He needs to be revived to reclaim his lost power and resurrection is the first and most crucial step. Being fully revived allows him to spread information faster, and to infect more minds, thus granting him the power he lost in the past. I think this is hinted at in one of Fallen Lyon's lines; "Do you really not know me? How poorly educated you are!" "Humans... Lament yoru fate... Weep for the dead. Despair for the living. Wail and tremble in grief. I am returned." - Fomortiis (Cipher card). (Also still waiting for a refine for Naglfar, and for the Demon King to come back around on a banner so I get 4 more of him for a +10.)

Great video, was very interesting to watch! I love FE 8 so much, Lyon is my fav villain in FE & I just want to hear his song remastered officially 1 day :( I honestly wish the next remake is FE8 since it's the only pre 3DS FE game that is a complete story without sequels or prequels, even the highly contraversal difficulty can be mended. I don't remember fully but I think the demon king can be fought against by the host him/herself & very rarely does the host win over the demon (in Lyon's case it didn't happen), this takes away the contradiction between Ephraim's path & Larachel's comment about Fomortiis. Meaning Lyon did for few times beat Fomortiis & took control at least in Ephraim's path.

Though one *very* miniscule nitpick you can take with a grain of salt: The art used in Heroes gets cropped tremendously when put into the game proper, as demonstrated in this video at 4:39 and 8:29. The uncropped art of Heroes can typically be found on the original artist's Twitter (or whatever site they use) if you can find it (or by following the link(s) found on the artist's page on the Heroes wiki). Here's Fallen Lyon's art in full, for example: twitter.com/yonekaz/status/1272440096445222914 All it needs is a trip into Photoshop/GIMP to remove the gray background and the copyright and you're set.

Its kinda sad we likely won't get a direct sequel because of not wanting any route to be canon,to be honest I like the compromise heroes makes,both routes feel incomplete now that they wrote a way to have it both ways

I didn't have time to mention it in this video, but the best way to experience sacred stones IMO, is play through the game, copy your save just before the route split, then play both paths simultaneously until chapter 14, then finish the game on Ephraim's path.

Here is my theorem but to make this much clear, all of my theories are entirely centered around the most crucial moment in all of Fire Emblem history: Naga sending Lucina through space and time. We know from their details that Awakening, Fates, and Echoes are all connected. That said, I suspect that each “supreme” dragon from each series is one of the First Dragons. Limiting my theory to the scope of this video, I believe formortiis is the original Dusk Dragon. Consider Dragonstones and how they came to be. Then begin to realize that the sacred stones which were shattered to release his power were similar in principle to said stones. That said, formortiis is the body of the Dusk Dragon run mad like any other dragon, but I also fear something darker. The original dragons, had to separate their souls from their bodies and risk true corruption. I suspect that either it was too late for him by the point that came or that he refused and was struck down and put into a deep sleep(as dragons can’t be slain by any power but their own) when his body was sent to that realm to be sealed, the rest of the dragons considered it fine. Eventually the people of that realm had to deal with him when he woke up and weapons were made to combat this evil force. Upon realizing no amount of attacks would slay him, they attempt to seal his power away in hopes of putting him to bed once and for all. They had no idea of a dragon must kill itself. This is why it took until Ephriam and Erika’s journey for one of the stones to be used against him. A dragon stone used by those bound to it by blood to slay the dragon.

That's all fine and dandy but, there's a competing theory that most of the dragons that end up on other worlds were originally in the dragons that lived on Elibe, and play to the other settings via the Dragon Gate. It's more likely to me that Morva, Myrrh and the other manakete out of darkling Woods were earth dragons from elibe who ended up magvel, and came into contact with Fomortiis, a being who already existed on magvel, and he was clearly something else; what ever he was Do keep in mind again that the only other character to Bear the title demon, don't have it clearly not be a metaphor or an honorific is Iduun as a demon dragon. Assumedly, if Fomortiis was also a demon dragon he would at least resemble Iduun in some fashion, which he does not. All the context, and everything Sacred Stones presents points to Fomortiis not being a dragon at all rather his own separate distinct entity. I think I like it better that way.

ZerkMonsterHunter 4 I was in your corner until I looked way too deep and way too long into Fates lore reveals and pieced them together with Echoes Grima dungeon lore. For example, I can’t be the first to suspect and have a measure of evidence that Nohr and Hoshido became Regna Ferox. Which is why they were spoken of as legendary kingdoms by chrom. It would explain the east and west khans, the tournaments to see who would have the call, and even further explain why they eventually transitioned to using mercenaries. But I’ll let you look into that possibility yourself. That said, I compared the shape we can see from Formotiis sprite to the statue of the dusk dragon in Fates and there are too many similarities. Pair that with previous corruptions we have seen of dragons and how they change and his role as an all consuming darkness and it strikes as odd. But I also see your point. I think my ultimate stance comes to two things. Naga broke reality when she shot Lucina through it like a rock through a windscreen, and secondarily, The First dragons are only spoken of in Fates and we don’t know where all of them went. Only ones I can confirm are Naga(Divine), anakatos(Silent), and that earth dragon sealed in the dragon table in FE3
@ZerkMonsterHunter
@ZerkMonsterHunter 3 жыл бұрын
@@blackchibisan8116 I don't think there's much evidence to say that Fates takes place on the same continent especially since there's a southern coast that borders both hoshido and nor where is regna ferox is supported by a northern coast, no mountain range separates it. Mountains take millions of years to disappear Which is far greater than any Fire Emblem timeline probably covers, the geography required to make this true isn't there but it's a neat thought experiment.

Demon king should have more stats and hp. Hp which makes the fight longer and epic. I feel like 120 hp is less... Hp of someone of his caliber should be 600 - 800. With increased stats and 10 hp recovery every turn of course. Am i only one like that ?
@ZerkMonsterHunter
@ZerkMonsterHunter 3 жыл бұрын
600 hp would be ABSURD even with effective weapons. Using siegmund, which has double mt against the demon king, str capped Ephraim would hit for 66 if the demon king had 0 defense. if the demon king had max defense (30 + 10), ephraim would deal 26 damage per attack. for 600 hp it would take 24 hits to kill the demon king, which just.... no that would be an obnoxious grind, 12 turns of summoning, ravager, nightmare (the actual worst thing in like any Fire Emblem game ever, it puts all your units within five spaces of the Demon King to sleep the only way to counter it is using the Latona staff). 600 is just too much. Duma in echoes was a slog and he has 200 hp, with the last 50 required to be dealt by Alm. And then if memory serves me correctly most of the three houses bosses top out at about 240 HP combining all three of their health bars.

Think about it... Demon king can easily be One-rounded by a single unit. Without pierce and Luna. Seth can Ohko demon king, Ross and maybe others including Joshua. Not only that a unit in open are can be attacked by 12 people at max. (Ranged weapons) 120 hp is just some kind of ridiculous joke and can be easily handeled by anyone considering that demon king can get doubled. Even if demon king would have that absurd Hp. There are still ways to deal with the situation calmly. Something that no Fe games does can be done with demon king. Demon king's mystrey and true power is resembled by his caps. Fight should be long. But in a sane way. After all... do you not think it a bit well unreal that no one dies in your army and you win this whole war easily. War without sacrifices is just way too unreal. Take Fire emblem Shadow dragon for example. Am i wrong ?

More than anything this all Hacking thing is all work of skill and knowledge and i don't have. I really feel bad for how many people have biased looks against demon king, Lyon and this game itself. I really want this game to be epic because it was my first FE game and i learned many things from it.

Nice work overall but it is really confuseing that for sure. Bot route make it confuseing what is hapending there whit Lyon. tho I would say bot route is hapending in paralle so I don't think Lyon is fully corrupted yet I don't think he fake whene whit Eirika I just think it is her love and that what keep him rooted in the world onlike Epheraim who more of a rival / friend (but still a rival in some way). I think he almost completly corrupted but whit like a really small parth of him yet still there. And I don't think he wanted it that way... I just think the demon king kinda use his felling for helping everyone else and corrupted them into something else. (he still like Eirika tho so what Eirika see is truelly Lyon and his word tho his other word as not fully his yet his too.)

Still, in ephraim's path it is outwardly and actually stated that Lyon is the one in control that he was able to beat the Demon King. I think it's fair to assume that yes he's still able to control himself and erika's path which is why I think Heroes does a good job of leading into that "he's faking on both paths" Theory.

@@ZerkMonsterHunter Fair fair tho I don't think he isn't in control I think he just got corrupted by the demon (he still do what he want to do tho not force by the demon at all, just corrupted by it ideas) But I still think Eirika is that parth in the mind of someone broken and doesn't know what to think anymore. I think there 3 entity in that Lyon: pre-corruption / he show this one as he talk to Eirika and love her he doesn't want to show what be become (since he love her still after being corrupted) post-corruption / he show this one in his action in general and whene he talk to Epheraim who he see as a rival Demon-king The demon king is really rarely there mainly just the final boss where there nothing left of Lyon not even his ideal corrupeted or anything.
