Fire Emblem really has come a long way since it's simple Gameboy days. Not that I was there for those days, but seeing the Goliath that Three Houses had become on the Switch really puts into perspective just how hard of a journey this game series has been on. The characters definitely are what make this series shine and stick with you when you get to know them. But I gotta say something if you plan on trying this series out (assuming you guys get a Nintendo console). This is a tactical turn-based game where you're essentially playing a MUCH more advanced version of chess and have to account for location, stats, and strategical formations. The newer games have easy modes so if you just wanted to experience the story that way, you can. But most people will try to urge you to play with "Permadeath" on. "Permadeath" is basically a mechanic where if you lose a character in a battle, they're gone for good. Pretty much a good way of making sure the player doesn't make half-a** decisions and thinks with each turn. Weekly All 1008 Pokemon suggestion: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmXJo6N-psetZpIsi=NooFiVjcst8u1h0U

Three Houses is a game near and dear to my heart(1400+ hours worth of my heart at least) so here's some neat things about the game that people that are unfamiliar with the game/series maybe don't know. -Supports/Marriage: As a bunch of your recruited units fight/bond they gain support levels. This makes them stronger when working together in battle but also unlocks scenes between the two(which are fully voice acted in this game and follow their own little storyline) and even paired ending cards. Some are platonic, some are romantic, but they all act as a great conclusion to their support convo arc. My favorite out of context line from them is: "It is said that, in their later years, they became so close that they passed away on the same day, as if conceding that one could not live without the other." You also get to pick someone to marry as well, and you get to pick the gender of the character you play(Byleth). Three Houses in particular handles character interactions/writing depth way better than the average Fire Emblem game. I've married a different character every time and it's nice because you get a sweet and unique scene for each character as well. -Replayability: I've done 8 full runs of the game. And in each run I've used new units, used units I've already used differently by training them with different skillsets/classes, seen new support convos with units from different houses, played new maps/levels because two specific units have a side-story(called a paralogue) together, and inflicted self-emotional damage in pitting units against their former housemates to the death. It's great.

Fire Emblem Three Houses has 4 story paths which the player can go down after certain choices in the game. The first choice being which house you pick for your starting characters; The options being Black Eagles, Blue Lions, and Golden Deers(FEAR THE DEER!!). With each group having their own unique main story, with the forth story path being available only in the Black Eagles route after ranking up your bond with one of the characters to a certain point. Also, the story is the same for all paths till the end of the game's first half. So it can be a bit boring to go through the same thing three times. But Paralogues/sidestories which shows up can all be different depending on which characters you have in your faction. Plus you can recruit characters from other factions, minus the leaders and their retainers, depending on what level your characters own stats are. And before I forget, there is the DLC house of the Ashen Wolves. Pretty much they have no unique main story and the four members of it can be recruited to whatever faction you have picked at the start of the game. But each member has unique interactions with different characters. Oh, and the DLC does expand a bit on the player's origins slightly.
@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames10 ай бұрын
Oh nice. Had no idea they had a dlc with a new house. Nice 😀. So maybe the way to play it is just keep a save before major choices and then go back to that save to replay 🤔
@zeroknight131110 ай бұрын
@@DefinitelyNotDefinitiveGames Well the only places to do that is at the start of the game when your picking your house and near the end of the Black Eagle's part 1 story. With the latter requiring you to have gotten at least a support Rank of C+ with a certain character before chapter 11 and then talk to that same character during chapter 11. This would give you the option that lets you see a cutscene depending on what you choose.

The thing with Three Houses that I think is most brilliant is that it really makes you understand the shades of gray when it comes to war. When the war brakes out all three sides have their very valid reasons for their actions and it's up to you to personally decide if those actions were justified. There's no truly happy ending in Three Houses just the ending you thought was best. I will say there is one faction that you would say is very much the villains and most evil but they're more in the background and really only come into play if you pick one of the Houses.

Something important to mention about the Golden Deers: they aren't "ruled by themselves". It's not a democracy, or anything like that. They're still ruled by nobility. The difference is that instead of a regular Kingdom or Empire where you have a bunch of lesser nobles like dukes that swear allegiance to the king or emperor, they're just an alliance of those lesser nobles that still rule over the common people in their smaller territories the same way any king would. They just don't have that higher noble above them to give them orders, so as an alliance, they have to agree with one another to make any choice that effects the rest of the alliance.

I've played all routes and put it down and literally last week I decided to pick it back up and here you guys are watching the trailers! I picked Blue Lions first, so they will always have a special place in my heart, but the Black Eagles might have the most interesting story. The thing is, you'll never get a complete picture of what's going on until you play all routes, since you're always seeing things from the perspective of the house you pick, and that's one of the most interesting things for me because it´s so true - history is told by the winners, and all factions have their own versions of the same set of facts and reach different conclusions about them. The Golden Deer are my least favorite, but their route has probably the best final map. So good things in all of them!

I adore this entire franchise, and Three Houses is very close to my favorite entry in the series (Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn are still my favorite, but this is just after them). My first choice was the Golden Deer because I was similarly taken in by the idea of a more democratic society compared to the Holy Kingdom and the Empire. The characters in the Golden Deer absolutely grew on me throughout the game, but all of the houses have such interesting characters. There's only a handful of characters in the 40-odd cast that I didn't end up liking, but even the ones I dislike are still ultimately well written. (Also, just as a funny note: the "canonical" weapon and class for Hilda, the girl who loves fashion and hates responsibility, is a warrior who swings an axe around that is about as big as her body as if it were nothing. She may be lazy, but she hits like a fucking semi) I will say that depending on which path you choose first, it will probably color your perception of certain characters for other playthroughs. I definitely have a rather skewed perception of one of the house leaders in particular because of the order I did the routes in, but honestly there's no real good way to avoid that.

So this is by far my favorite Switch game and it's not even a little close. over 500 hours into it, and as it has multiple paths to take(the different houses and teams you can run) there's so much you can get out of the game. I think if you're looking into the trailers, while you'll pick up some bits of the story, you miss a whole lot. I would recommend if you have no intention to play the game, I would look for and watch some videos exploring the story behind the game. It's HUGE, and even in game has a lot of books you can read that expand upon the story a lot. The story in the game is fantastic, and is the first game in YEARS that was able to bring me to tears. It's still a game I pick up quite regularly and play. I've recently picked up Switch emulation, and I've been enjoying the game, now in a crisp nice 1440p and 60FPS, instead of the 30 it was locked to on console. Definitely worth checking out the story even if you don't play it though.

A true gem and a classic! There isnt really a "final villian" per say. Just different world views. And the thing is, whichever house you pick first, you will agree with them, and then you will be amazed playing a 2nd time with a different house, finding yourself changing your mind on alot when you see THEIR point of view. The characters are wonderfully written (would you believe me if I told you that Dimitri was in the top 10 in Nintendos own character poll the year the game came out?) and the whole story is frankly a shakespearean tragedy in three acts. For a first run, I would recommend the Blue Lions, as the route is the most standalone in that you aren't left too much in the dark on certain things if you haven't played the other routes. But really, pick whichever you want, just be warned that playing through a route in 70 hours means you were pretty quick with it.

I loved this game. Black Eagles are my favorite. You just have to make sure you stick with them. >_>

I chose the blue eagles , I’m a huge Dimitri fan and I love how close they all are to each other. Also the blue eagles have a certain past tragedy that is always looming when they interact with each other and it made their storylines so much more interesting to me.

“Old dude with the beard” was one of the best boss fight in the game, with the most absolute GOAT boss theme. Three Houses is definitely in my top 3 Switch games, excellent characters, story, and music, and while the gameplay’s on the easier side by the series standards, the formula as implemented is still plenty functional, flexible, and approachable. The Golden Deer was my first true love, and while I’ll defend the cast to the death- Claude in particular has ascended as my favorite Fire Emblem character period, and even their most reviled member has his share of moments of growth / endearment- their campaign probably has the least on offer narratively speaking(aside from the fourth campaign the fan base has collectively elected to forget about). Which is sort of the point imo, but to explain how exactly would constitute spoilers, and we ain’t about that life.

This is my favorite game ever. It’s a little hard to explain but even the bad guys they show aren’t the entire conflict. The conflicts are much bigger than any one or two people, it’s spread across the entire continent and through decades of history and many people making bad decisions or not having the full story when making a decision, etc. It’s complicated, basically, and you don’t really see a full picture unless you play all 4 routes. It’s a fantastic game and now I wanna play it again (Blue Lions supremacy!)

While there are a few uncompromisingly bad guys, they're not even necessarily the antagonist in each path. This is a game about warring ideals and factions. Because most of our students are good people or at least noble ones. There would be a chance to solve anything through peaceful cooperation. The actual "bad guys" are more of an excuse to make that impossible, they're a plot device, but they're not the focus. The real meat of the story is in the warring ideals of the people we love. What we're all up against is each other. My team is definitely the black eagles, although I've played them all and I love almost all of the characters.

I personally purchased the Nintendo Switch because of this game. I have been obsessed with Fire Emblem ever since the Game Awakening for the Nintendo DS which deals with Time Travel. I also have supported every character in Fire Emblem Three Houses and have played each storyline countless times. At the end of the game you gain renown which you can use in your new file having the classes and skills from your completed game. One thing I will mention is Black Eagles has two routes within. My advice with no spoiler is gift Edelgard to Support B and do the same for Rhea which will open the additional route within the Black Eagle Storylines two paths. You find out the entire storyline of Byleth in the Golden Deer Route and let me tell you there are dark parts of this game!!! I must know if you purchased this game and if you enjoyed it and which was your favorite house???

Definitely a game i would love to see you guys react to! Even better if you do decide on different houses to go to so you can see just how different your decisions and choices are and the results therein afterwards. Whether you play it or watch someone else's playthrough, i would love to hear and see your thoughts and reactions to everything the game has to offer~

One of the big things with this game is totally that the terms “hero” and “villain” don’t really exist in this world (other than those obvious evil dudes lol), and the protagonists and antagonists are different depending on which route you take. It’s really a tragic masterpiece in morally grey storytelling
@Shinzo64210 ай бұрын
Not sure why but didn't expect fire emblem on the channel what a nice surprise! Theres a spinoff game where the professor/protagonist never gets recruited as an instructor, and becomes one of the primary antagonists instead. Would love to see the reaction to those trailers if you ever have room for it your schedules :) Its Fire Emblem Three Hopes. Blue Lions Gang B)

Now that you’ve reacted to this, I’m kind of begging you all to play this game. My favorite game of all time. Great story, great characters, and fun gameplay. Replay value is high because each house comes with a different route (and a secret route 🤫) Blue Lions are my crew ❤ but all the routes are great.

Good first game for the series. Works like Final Fantasy, whole new world and cast every time with a few Easter Egg names (often a red headed merchant called Ana and a descendant of Marth knocking around).

do not worry about classes being locked to a certain house some are locked to gender so only female units can become pegasus knights and brawling classes are limited to male units except for one type the war cleric. Byleth, dimitri, claude, and edelgard have their own unique classes. there are certain magic classes that are gender locked dark mage/dark bishop is locked to male units and the gremory, valakrie, dark flier is locked to female units. There is also the dancer class which unlocks during a special in game event where if you win it the unit you chose unlocks that class to uyse. Byleth cannot become a dancer class.
