Sylvain’s growth development is one of my favorites in this game. He seems like a light, happy-go-lucky playboy but in reality he’s a smart guy with a big heart and feelings that run really deep... He’s as sincere and sweet as he is good looking. An intelligent noble who bears sadness for the lack of power he has over his life. This support conversation does him justice 😭❤️

He calls Byleth "spoiled" because Byleth had an upbringing that was free from the idea of crests, all thanks to Geralt's efforts of avoiding the church. Sylvain grew up in an environment where crests meant everything for status, like women showing interest on him only because of his crest and the fact that his own brother was disdainful towards him (even attempting to kill Sylvain-- "You know he once shoved me in a well? He left me on the mountainside in the middle of winter too") due to a lack of one. So in a way, yeah, to him Byleth is a "spoiled brat" because they never had to suffer the stress and pressure of a crest-centered society, and he really envies that.

Actually Sylvain is one of the most interesting characters of the game. At first you may think he's just a big jerk who throws ladies' hearts with no remorse, but in reality, he's a victim of the system he always lived in. He holds no great value to his life, as he knows he's only respected and "loved" because he has the luck to possess a Crest. He's hurt to realise that he couldn't even choose his future path, not even choose the person that will be by his side for the rest of his life, just like a puppet, and he also knows that person certainly won't love him for what he is, but for his Crest and rank above all. So he takes revenge on girls by betraying them and leaving them behind. Which to me is partially understandable since he has no choice at all about anything at the start, so the least he can do is deliver his anger on others. So I love Sylvain, and he'll finally be able to be himself with Byleth :)❤

Sylvain was the character that made me surprised about how well the game subverts my expectations. When I first see Sylvain, I was initially under the mindset that he's the token shallow womanizer character with no game. But in actuality, he wants to be loved for who he is, not for his Crest. He actually hates his Crest, and despises women who love him only for his Crest. And I love the exchange he has with Byleth, when he finds she didn't even know about her Crest. Due to Jeralt doing everything in his power to keep her origins a secret. Thus she never had to think much about her Crest, all that mattered to her was who the next target was. Meanwhile Sylvain had to live in a society where Crests are everything and that he had to fend off commoner women who wanted an easy ticket into nobility, as well as Miklan who loathed and detested him, all just because Sylvain's Crest as well as his whole existence took everything from him. He wasn't my first pick as best Blue Lions husbando, but he's a great character in his own right.

Eh, same thing, but reversed. I like to play with female avatar. And I do think that MByleth is a cutie and that, so do I have tought on other games with "silent" MC. But playing on a male when I could pick the female is making the game mess a bit with my perception of the story. Or so. I find it weird. But only in the case of "silent" protagonist, if the character has its own lines and personality its not an issue whatsoever, of course.
