It shows his character that he was there to play with Farnsy and co. and that he didn't want the spotlight focused on him, especially when the firies came on. He always put in 100% night after night, sung with members of the crowd, and because his stage was 'in the round', he packed in more audience than most artists. @@soeinhenk Sadly, the only time our Emergency Services get any recognition like the above is during and shortly after a massive natural disaster. This concert was held to raise funds to help rebuild what was lost in the horrendous Bushfires we had in 2019-2020. At the time of this concert, most of New South Wales was gone with huge chunks of every other state and both territories also gone, lost to the ravages of fire. In the reaches of the major cities, our firefighters are paid staff but outside of those areas, it’s all volunteers who give up their time and risk their lives to save other lives and property. They leave their paid jobs 98% of the time to go and fight against bushfires such as those that destroyed 60% of Australia during that time. I’m Australian by birth - lived here ALL my life and I have NEVER seen New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, Australian Capital Territory, Tasmania, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia all on fire at the exact same time before. 🥺

I certainly shed a tear or two when saw The John Farnham Story at the cinema earlier this year; l'm shedding tears and wiping my nose as l type this story. I was a chauffeur driver for Paul Dainty's family (thanks Zelko - ALR) when you did a concert at Rod Laver Arena. Other drivers were talking with your man George, when you rushed out to jump into his car and it stalked and stopped 😂 We all yelled out, laughing "Do you need a car, Mr. Farnham" Not happy George 😊😊 Here endeth the lesson - Monty Python quote

Shut your eyes and John could be singing in the late 80s - early 90s, not early 2020. Whispering Jack came out the year I was born. He is singing it in the original key - he is 70+. Any singer out there would kill to be able to sing like this, and LIVE. It is astounding his voice has the clarity and range still. I have recently delved into his back catalogue thanks to an American guy (Nick) who reacts to a lot of his songs. John is sublime live. He cannot be beaten.

This was, next to Queen + Adam Lambert's set, the greatest moment of the night. Farnsey is always acknowledged as The Voice, the greatest singer Australia has ever produced. So we were already excited. And we knew what song he would finish with, so we were even more excited. And then when that shot of Brian May flashed up on the screen, we all went into overdrive. John Farnham doing You're the Voice with Brian May?! It was too much! We were screaming. People were having freakouts. OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD! THEY'RE DOING IT OH MY GOD! the guys next to me were screaming. And this moment was so cathartic, so...in that moment, I swear I found a new plane of existence. Nothing hurt. Pain didn't exist here. Everyone on this stage is a legend in my eyes. Giving their time and talent to such an important cause. Yet the sheer class of John shines through as he makes the effort to welcome each person as they join in. He recognises everyone, from the gesture that he makes towards Mitch as he takes the lead and the smile that he gives him once he’s finished, to rocking out with Brian, waving at a member of the crowd, kissing Liv when she comes out and pointing to the firies when they file in at the end. He connects with everyone. All while signalling to the band and of course singing the song! A born performer, true and lasting talent and most importantly a brilliant human being!

When most famous songwriters hear another translate their song and release it they take legal action to either stop the release or receive royalties for any profit made but when John heard the full Mitch Tambo version he not only gave him his blessing he made a collaboration which has brought us closer as a nation, When you hear the story of Johns wife driving to the record studio hoping they would like his album Whispering Jack he had mortgaged he’s house he was in the fetul position on passenger floor if they say no he is bankrupt & homeless even though he’s famous, He’s a National icon only just starting to get recognised globally for he’s brilliant voice which is unmatched and when he was young it was effortless he never struggled and could go from 0-60 instantly!
