Aj wrote about my mother and his. My mom used to sing every fire song live. She just loved them. It will be played at my funeral someday. He tried to drive and perform it for her while she was on her death bed at her apartment down in Escondido, Ca but she didn't let him see her. This like all the other FFTG songs is music for the soul. Lyrics that grip your heart and let you reflect. The sound delivery and composition that lets you either headbang or just sit back and let it flow into your ears and soul in the same song. And the elephant in the room: AJ's voice. Sorry to say I’d never heard of Fire From the Gods until they opened for the FFDP/Megadeth show in Dallas on Aug 30, 2022. My 23 y/o son and I went early to beat the crowds and chill, so we caught the whole show. Fire From the Gods killed it! (To the point of my son and I looking at each other with bobbing heads and that “Holy shit!” look on our faces.) So over the past few days I’ve been streaming some of their recorded tracks… damn, they’re even better than I thought! Only took one or two songs before I was hooked and added them my “play more of” list. BTW, these gentlemen seem so dedicated… and humble (despite, in my opinion, setting a benchmark for other “opening acts”). It really struck me when AJ closed their set with something to the effect of, “We know that in any career you have to start at the bottom and then work your ass off to get where you want to be. And that’s we plan to do. We’re so happy to be here.” I felt sincerity in that statement, and my gut (and ears) tells me these guys are only about one banger away from finding themselves on millions of playlists. Thanks to the band for setting the stage (no pun intended) for what turned out to be a beginning-to-end, kick-ass show!
