My Fire Kit consist of a pair of Reading Glasses for Solar Ignition, and a Key Ring Liquid Match, which gives me both a Spark Ignition Source with the Ferrocerium striker, and flame ignition with a wide variety of common fuels. A Zippo would work too but i already have enough in my pockets. 3 independent sources of ignition with two common items.

I love those uberland tinder wicks! Great fire extender. I also keep a Victorinox fieldmaster, bayite 1/2 large ferro rod with Corona tool sharpener as the striker, Exotac titan and matchcap XL with UCO storm matches, pocket bellow, fresnal lens, couple magnesium blocks for tinder, some home made wax impregnated layerd cardboard and sawdust firestarter and zippo with zippo butane torch insert. I also use the maxpedition jumbo pocket pouch but what spare space I have in it I keep a sawyer mini, worksharp field sharpener and a rat tail file for my axe. Got the idea for the sawdust cardboard firestarter looking at the Coghlan fire lighter matches and seems to work pretty darn well but does require a press of some sorts. I used a tin can, it's lid and a c clamp. Cut cardboard to cans diameter, mix the sawdust with melted wax then soak cardboard in wax slurry and layer into can. When filed roughly 75% put metal lid on top and compress using c clamp. Let dry a week under compression then you can separate some and put into round tin such as a round tobacco tin I had laying around. Tear in half or rough up and you got a decent cheap firestarter.

1:23 And there you have it! "Have lighter, use lighter!" ALL else is merely a back-up, in case something (what??) goes wrong with your Bic. Well, you could use No1 back-up - your second lighter, or third! [Amazon sells a Bic 3-pack for $2,37!). 7:02 Wow! I'm impressed! Two items so seldom seen anywhere - tea lights and a pencil sharpener! Brilliant! 9:47 That knife looks like a Ranger Grip 79 - Felix Immler has a fascinating book out called "The Swiss Army Knife Book - 63 Outdoors Projects". I've just finished reading it and it is quite astonishing what he can do with just that knife! You might want to try it. Maybe you'll keep that knife to where it belongs! 😉😄 Bottom line is like the Boy Scouts motto says, "Be Prepared!" Your set-up does that, in spades! I love it !

Thanks for the comment. It is a RangerGrip, and I do use it for micro processing, but the bigger stuff I usually grab the belt knife. I love watching Felix Immler's channel, so many tips and tricks and "WFT they can do that" moments. I can guarantee that if I were to take a single knife and kit I would have to fit in my pocket, the SAK would be it.
