You will love them Teresa! This year, one year after planting, mine are each nice and green right now, getting ready to push out some flower buds! (I hope to do a video of them soon.) Please keep me posted on yours if you plant one...or more! 🩷

I love your garden. I discovered you when I was concerned about my knockout roses. Thanks to you I had the courage to prune them and they are rebounding nicely. My geranium Rozanne was looking good earlier in the season but now, no blooms. We’ve had heavy rains due to thunderstorms almost every day. I’m guessing that’s why it’s not looking so good now. 😔 thanks so much for your videos!

Hi Denise! I’m so glad I could help with your Knockouts! If you see any brown winding stems (no longer green) on your Geranium Rozanne, you can gently pull those off the plant. Gently so you don’t accidentally pull any live parts off. Or you can snip them off. You can also give a light trim of some extra long stems if needed. (I should probably do a video on this…) 🤔 They should rebound and provide additional flowers, especially once the weather calms down. 🙂

I am in zone eight and just planted two fire light tidbits. One I planted in April, and it is gorgeous and full of blooms! It was already mature size in the pot from the nursery and I just planted another one a few days ago. Really happy with them so far!

Glad to hear this Christine! 😀 It’s so great to have small hydrangeas that look delicate but are rather tough! I’m really happy with them too and am looking forward to seeing their Fall leaf colors! 🍂🍃🌸

Yes, when I worked out in the heat, I took 3 showers throughout the day and changed clothes. Your flowers look good for heat wave.

I love your firelight tidbits and am so happy because I underplanted mine below my incrediball hedge 5 on each side so I’m excited if they flower. I am way behind as well and they have a few buds for now. I just love seeing your garden! Thank you for your video 🌸🌸🌸🌸….. oh and 107?????? I would be inside my freezer! 😂😂😂😂😂 I also love you geranium Rosanne and my geranium Roseanne are gorgeous and that’s because you are my favorite enabler 😂😂😂.

Yes, I don’t do well in high heat and humidity. Who does? 🥵😅 So today felt wonderful finally having normal temps! 😀 I like where you planted your Tidbits, and I really hope you’ll start seeing flowers soon. Isn’t Rozanne fantastic? I love unfussy plants! 💜 And being a plant enabler!

@@GardenSanity Rozanne is the most beautiful plant ever!! Like you say, it just plays well with all other plants and intertwines and the purple flowers peek from everywhere! I bought a bunch last fall and am I ever happy I did!!! But I credit this to you my friend because otherwise, I would have not known that plant. Everyone is on the boom chocolata geraniums and other ones but nobody ever talks about Rozanne…….. and then came Laura and I was sold after 20 seconds 😂😂😂!!! So thank you 🌸🍷🍷

Yes I keep seeing a lot about the Boom Chocolata variety too, but I still think Rozanne beats them all. I wish more perennial flowers had as long a bloom time as Rozanne. Sure would make gardening a bit easier! 🤣

I just had my local nursery order me some of these for a new bed I am working on right now, and will fill up with plants in September before frost (zone 6a). I am so happy to see how well yours are doing despite this sweltering heat! Gives me hope next summer I will see some beautiful little petals! They are gorgeous! 💕 Thank you for sharing with us! I just love your videos so much!

I love planting in September, as it gives you a head start on next year’s blooms! 👍 Yes, I was a bit worried how these would do in these heat waves in their first year. What a relief that they seem ok! These also will have beautiful Fall leaf colors too - an added bonus! 🌸🍃🍂

Hi Laura. Your garden is always delightful to watch. Appreciate the updates on the tidbits hydrangeas. I have tree growing in pots & they do fantastic as well with lots of blooms. I also noticed things blooming much later this summer. For one we had many cool days which I’m very happy but some plants weren’t. Now everything looks lush. My limelight’s, hardy hibiscus, caladiums & elephant ears.

I just bought 3 of these for the front porch area. Paired with Super Hero Rose Bush. I am zone 4 in MN. I hope they have blooms this year. Mine look like mature plant from last year or so. No too many green branches

@@GardenSanity some of the first blooms got torched mid summer and now that its the first cool day, they are finally turning pink. I realized that our tidbits and strawberry vanilla tree are full sun so some of the blooms didnt like that and turned brown quickly.

@@breezybears I'm glad they are all finally turning pink for you! 🌺I have a video you can watch about what to do if your hydrangeas seem to go from white/ivory to brown, skipping the pink phase. Some of it is in our control, and of course some of it is Mother Nature, but that video might help. Here's the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ranTfqmNq6p3pLMsi=xrFznWptTwcS2NFF 👍

I’m in that camp too Kathryn! 🙂 But I find myself slowly adding in perennials over time instead of planting all at once. I like to see how each new one fills in a bit first. But having patience isn’t easy! 🤣

I, too, added Firelight tidbits last year and had one or two of the four bloom. (They were really tiny). This year they've more than doubled and are covered in blooms. Your sedum leaves look like mine and I don't know if you've noticed or it's just mine in Maryland, but I keep noticing the birds taking bites out of the leaves. I haven't done any research to find out what or why they're chewing on them.

So glad to hear that your Tidbits are covered in blooms this year! Always satisfying when our plants take off! 🌸 I have not noticed birds with my Sedum, but will pay attention to see. I have lots of birds in these garden beds. Today I had a mourning dove pecking for worms, and he/she pecked in a complete circle around one of my Kalimeris perennials. It was very odd! 🙃🙂

My two Tidbits were planted last fall. Now they're looking the same size as yours in April. They're planted between fruit trees in a sunken backyard so perhaps I chose a location too shady for them. I hesitate planting quart-size hydrangeas under my front porch where the afternoon heat reflected by the concrete is relentless. For that west-facing bed I'm planting a Pinky Winky in a 5-gallon pot. Per your recommendation I dare have this robust hydrangea grow tall and beautiful to make me look like a great gardener : )

I’m smiling about looking like a great gardener with your Pinky Winky - it’s true! I look forward to hearing from you when it is blooming and thriving! Give it a decent amount of water while it gets established. As for the Tidbits, yes they like sun, but also appreciate afternoon shade where it is very hot. Everything seems to be late this year - I’m hearing that from gardeners all over. I hope yours will begin blooming soon. 🤞🌸

I planted 3 Fire Light Tidbits 15 months ago in zone 5. One is just beginning to bloom, but the other 2 don’t seem to be doing anything. The foliage on all look really nice. 🤷‍♀️ Hoping for more blooms later or maybe next year.

Hi Jane, Compared to mine, I’m surprised yours aren’t blooming yet - however everything seems to be late this year and you are 2 zones lower than me. I wonder if that’s why. What size did you plant? Mine were gallon sizes. I think it’s a great sign that the foliage looks healthy. I hope yours start blooming soon - please keep me posted! 🤞🙂

Are those the ones that got fried in transit last year? They’re looking great! Let’s blame the smoke for the lateness. I’m still looking for a hydrangea with good fall foliage color. My oak leafs are ok, but a little too purple. I’m trying quickfire fab this year. We’ll see.
@GardenSanity
@GardenSanity Жыл бұрын
No, the fried FedEx one is in my backyard. These 3 I purchased as gallon-sized containers so they already were really healthy to start. Yes, we will blame the smoke. 🙃 I’m looking forward to the Fall color of these, but they are short in height. Did you end up getting rid of your Little Quick Fires? They have good Fall color. Let me know how the Fab does. 🍂🌸

@@GardenSanity Hmm. I have 2 standard Quickfire. I think it depends on how cold autumn is. The longer the leaves stay on, the better the color. We’ll see.

Maybe it’s those Quick Fires I’m remembering you said had wasps on them that you didn’t like last Summer? At any rate, I’m getting spoiled by 4 days in a row of mild temps with cool nights, so I’m hoping this helps my hydrangeas with their flower color changes. 🤞
