Hi there! New to mage and trying Frost in season 4. Is your guide from 10.2 still a good thing to look at or have things changed a bit since then?

How much stronger/worse will the fire spec be or smoother/clunkier will the spec gameplay be in season 4 given the tier set is changing back to S2 + having access to the dinar/bullion system? I'm coming back to DF and haven't played since S1. Am wafting between my MM hunter and Fire mage. I mostly pug keys and stop playing at or near 3k io. MM hunter always felt more chill to play than fire mage and more reliably topped dps meters in pug keys. Fire mage feels awesome when in rhythm playing around combust/skb and mob pull cadence, but awful when out of rhythm as my dmg falls off significantly, which can happen often to me when pugging.

the season 4 tier set feels incredibly nice, but it also makes the rotation significantly more complex. If you want a fun but challenging spec then thats fire for sure. Its basically 100% crit rate if you play properly, and instant cast galore

hallo Forgy i want to ask something , i am trying this way of doing the rotation fb + ib = 2 pyro , and scorch + ib = 2 pyro but i dont even get the scorch combo and i dont get why is it bc of my lvl of haste , i got atm 6400 and i see u are playing with 7k is it bc of it ? or i am sometime to slow for it

It has nothing to do with haste or stats. It is either you pressing IB too late in the cast, pressing pyro too slow, or your spell queue is too low. I have a video addressing spell queue so check that if you dont know what that is. Ideally have it at 400 but a lower amount can also be ok as long as you are above a certain mark which is explained in the video.

So in combustion at beginning you’re using Fire ball Fire blast followed by Pyrox2?

i know its not fire related. is your cast sequence macro with pot/mana gem/ trinket/ cast barrage broken lately? ever since last patch mine works like 70% of the time and other times it just wont cast or use consumables/ trinket. not sure if its an addon causing this problem for me or if you had similar problems?

how much of a loss is it to just press combust at the very end of a SKB? surely losing 0.1 seconds or so isn't that bad?

do you mean end of SKB cast or actual SKB duration? If you have a part of the vod you are referring to then I can understand better potentially what you are considering

duration - like at 3:20 in this video if you didn't have IB

If you wanted to not combust during the SKB cast and finish the SKB first, you would do the entire SKB sequence, then you would precast a spell like fireball or scorch then combust. The issue is that if you have combust ready (or 1s from being ready) and you do an entire SKB, then you are wasting 8s duration (6 + cast time) AND you are wasting kindling CDR from Pyro IB Pyro Pyro, Scorch IB Pyro Pyro, IB Pyro, which is around 10 extra seconds. So youre wasting around 15 seconds of CDR on combustion which is pretty bad. If you didnt have the IBs I had in the video in that time, you would just fireball once or twice to not be AFK, and then go hardcast pyro and combust during the cast. @@rika-chan
