I feel like there's 2 distinct camps of people reacting to these. People whose taste is more towards the entire presentation of a song, and those that are basically here for the bars. If you're here for bars this song is fire but as a song like that would go billboard or something yeah you're correct this ain't it. But for my personal taste what I like from a diss track is the lyrics and Mac brought some punches here. The Dave Matthews Gay BLack Jew thing was bc Tom made that song if I was black. From my perspective, Tom is a centrist and whether people admit it publicly or not, his ‘ controversial’ statements are actually shared by most Americans. A lot of his songs are actually ‘ both sides are the problem’ we need to turn it against ‘ those’ that put us against each other. So Mac casting false aspersions on Tom’s fan base is actually weak AF because I don’t recall Tom doing the same. If he responds, maybe he will but right now it’s a W for Tom.
