I usually don't post comments, but this video hit hard for me. I can relate. I am now 58 with a felony committed 32 years ago that everyone told me would ruin my life. I worked shit jobs, was homeless, doing drugs and drinking more than I should. Years later I gave up working dead end jobs, barely surviving. Now I have worked in county jails supervising inmates, am now a state licensed armed security guard who carries a valid ccp. I refused to believe the lies that I wouldn't amount to anything, but look at me now. Just wish my dad was alive to see what I've done with my life. Tom... Your an inspiration. Thank you brother for touching me with this video.

I'm staring at a coffin that wants me so bad, I had a heart attack at 38, I'm 41 now & extremely out of shape, extreme depression & anxiety, tried to hang myself 9 months ago, & went to a mental health hospital who wanted me to stay there voluntarily but when they found out my partner of 10 years would have to quit her job they said I should be treated in the community & they put me on a 2nd anti depressant so I'm on 2, & they put me on Clonazepam which helped my anxiety massively, Then the community place I went to offered no psychological therapy, & switched my clonazepam to diazepam straight away just so they could taper me off it. I'm 2 weeks off my 2 anti depressants cold turkey with the help of pregablin which I have to get online. I cant even get an ENT appointment because they have too much of a backlog despite my Dr doing an urgent referral so 1 year I've had hearing problems, & still get no help & can't afford private as that would be taking money away that we need for our 9 year old. Everything has gone against me & carries on doing so. My son is the reason I'm clinging on which is by a thread right now. I hope 1 day I see that chink of light in the dark tunnel I'm in.

I love how people still hate Tom for "Not being a real American". America is a nation of immigrants. Tom is one of many examples that the American dream still exists.
@Bancheis6 ай бұрын
@@rainofkittens Most Americans aren't "real" Americans. Like you said, America is a nation of immigrants. It has nothing to do with where you are born, it has everything to do with your mindset... well, legal citizenship is also important - but I digress. My great grandfather immigrated here from Italy. My grandfather fought for this country. My grandparents struggled to afford to raise 3 children, and they grew up on the poverty line. Every Christmas was a pair of socks and slippers, maybe pajamas, no toys, while their friends had action figures and the full Barbie house or things like that. They had a lot of simple meals, were disciplined when out of line, and stayed close throughout their years looking out for each other. My mother worked 2 to 3 jobs at a time to support me since my father was a deadbeat, but she showed me that working hard is the path even when no one else is there to help you. It was tough, wearing clothes too big for you because you had to grow into them since we couldn't afford new clothes often. The joy I felt finally getting a real pair of shoes that fit and felt comfortable brought tears to my mother's eyes and a sense of happiness myself that I never knew I was missing. Fast food like McDonalds was maybe a once-a-month treat for being good, because it was too expensive to have more than that. But we didn't give up. You can't let the pressure crumble you. Never back down, never give in. I got a job as soon as I turned 15 to help out. I grew up with a learning disability and nervous system disorder. Doctors tried to medicate me and told me I needed their poison, that I would never be independent, but my willpower was stronger than that. I followed the example of my mother and worked hard every day of my life. My mother helped me reach the top of the wall, and I managed to pull both myself and her over it. I bought a house before I was 30, have a 6 figure job, and my mother is retired now while it is my turn to take care of her. That is the American dream. It has nothing to do with generational wealth, and nothing to do with simply existing here. It is having that mindset that you can make it if you try, and the willpower to avoid the things that try to stop you... Addiction, vices, lust, "friends" that encourage destructive behavior, and even the Government or parents telling you that you are a victim and should fear others. All of that pales in comparison to the feeling of accomplishment when you finally succeed. Be it medical professionals, friends, or even family, anyone that tries to hold you back, tells you that you are not capable, not worthy of your goals, toss them away. Real family are those who support you, prop you up, help you, encourage you, blood ties or not. Distance yourself from all those who would do otherwise.
@McScott765 ай бұрын
@@rainofkittens Agree... but it's deeper than that. America isn't really a nation at all. It's an idea that existed before the Declaration of Independence or constitution were even written. The idea was that God-given liberty, individual responsibility and unfettered opportunity produce the best possible human existence. America just enshrined and codified this idea and then planted it in the hearts of its citizens. People all over the globe are loyal to that idea, whether or not their passport says "US citizen." And sadly, many people like Tom MacDonald understand what it means to be "American" better than most Americans.

Let's have some fun. Song is called "GOD MODE" and Tom surely does perform this tune well throughout it's entirely, but what parts make you "feel" when you got the "God Mode" in your own heart? For me - 5:06 - 5:40. I am a struggling artist myself (woodworking) and I know exactly what he is expressing and working through. Hardcore material here. I'm not the proof yet, but I'm always analyzing and regrouping my efforts to make my dream become a reality. Thank you Tom for the music that helps me to push myself forward when I fail.

@CD-vb9fi7 ай бұрын
If you are a Christian you should not be applauding this. Yes, it is good to overcome sin. But his message is one of pride and arrogance. Such is not from wisdom, God will destroy all pride. As a Christian Tom's music bears some truth to it but his theatrics are still demonic in appearance and nothing he sings is in the form of praise for The Father Almighty. He claims himself to be a goat (greatest of all time) but in Christian terms goats are on the left of Lord Christ and they will all perish. Those on the right of Lord Christ are all lambs, not goats. I think there is a good reason for this "interesting" play on words. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty sprite before a fall.

Alcoholic for 25+ years, no worries, not a feat. Rather easy if you eat enough. Have a big breakfast, a nice midday meal, and get to bed early enough that you won't ever want to do anything else .Read a book and listen to music. You get up at 5, have a good breakfast, and the world is your oyster! I swear it will do you good. You may also meet someone who's up to your standards, which will be better than the trollops you undoubtedly frequent otherwise. Have fun, my dear!

Tom I am a 56 yr old vet I found your music about a year ago. I will say you've saved me from a very dark place. I've looked into the business end of a pistol and wanted to finish a bottle of pills for the dirt nap. You and Nova's music pulled me from the abyss. I'm not sure if you read any of the comments but you keep doing you

Tom: I felt this BEFORE the release. I messaged you and I told you that you were born for such a time as this. This IS a part of your destiny. No one can ever say otherwise. God will use anyone who will submit to Him and that is abundantly clear. You may not understand your calling but I do. You are a bridge to the lost souls that your genre of music can reach out and touch. God knows you and He loves you, Tom. So I bless you, Nova and your family as you all journey through this assignment with shalom (perfect peace), in The Name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Legendary track Tom. Since everyone seems to be dropping their story and age in the comments, here goes: I'm 31, and your journey reminds me of elements of my own. At 19 I left my parents on bad terms, lived with "friends" and got mixed up in a world of drugs and crime, living in trailer trash, sleeping on the floor or the couch. 4 years of abusing pills/powders, 5 years of drinking every weekend, 10 years of smoking cigarettes and 10 years of smoking weed. I quit pills/powders in 2014. Quit abusing alcohol in 2015 (drink once a year now). Walked away from the old crew in 2016, and reconnected with my family who has been so good to me. I don't deserve them. In 2017 found a gift from God in the form of a new friend group that is sober, loves God, and cares about each other. Restarted my walk with God. Quit tobacco in 2020. Quit weed in 2021. Got a steady job in 2022, which I'm still at now and have great coworkers. Been improving my art, my physical health, my faith, and more. God saves, follow Him. You have to take that step.

Kudos for all the rest . . . Why drink at all?
@Grimsikk7 ай бұрын
@@suzannesund4595 1. I was never addicted, genuinely. Despite a family history of alcoholism and my addictive nature to all the aforementioned things, alcohol never had its hooks in me, and I never really cared for it. 2. I've gone nearly half a decade now with easily committing to the once/twice a year thing, so I know I'm not addicted. My birthday and sometimes a random point in the year where I'd like to have a mixed drink while watching a movie alone or something. Very much a classy "me-time" thing now opposed to the prior life of getting wasted with people I didn't want to be around. I rarely get drunk, too, we're talking like 1-2 small mixed drinks sipped during a movie, once or twice a year. If I feel stressed or depressed and find myself thinking about using one of my yearly drinks for it, I stop myself every time and do something else, so as not to let myself use it as a crutch. It's an odd and rare situation, but it really does work well for me. I have the same bottle of Suntory whiskey nearly full sitting in the pantry from my birthday last September lol. I often forget it even exists.

When you said to stop missing who you were gave me chills!!! Like, how can people say crap like that to someone when they know they used to be down and out?? I think they just want to keep us down.. hardly anyone truly wants to see others succeed and it sickens me! Your music is always 🔥!!! Your talent is so intense! And the fact that you love God just seals the deal for me… keep on shining Tom! And let those haters fuel your fire bc they just want to see you fail.. jokes on them ! 😜♥️ And I have to add, I have tears flowing down my face after seeing your beautiful family walk in and how you changed their lives by just being YOU! And Nova is the realest! I am so proud of you and her both!!!
