I think you hit a home run with that mix. Great burn time.

Thank you much. I was kinda surprised it worked that well first try myself

Problem i had when using the Vaseline is the are not as stable as i liked in hot temperatures. They get kind of melty. I have had best luck with charcoal lighter fluid. 75% wax to 25% fluid. One spark will light it up. I have used Vaseline, lighter fluid, cooking oil and even crisco. The crisco is messy I recommend using dental gauss. They are exactly like black beards fire plugs. Ive used bees wax, gulf wax, a mix of the 2. The only thing i haven't tried is tiki candle fluid and lamp oil. Yours are working great. Good job That is one of the other issues i had with the crisco and Vaseline is that it leaked out as it burned. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the tips. I might try some of those as well.

@Robertssurvivalsystems the dental gauss is a lifesaver. I can get about 500 with 1 box of gulf wax. Drop them im by the 100 pull them out and lay them out to dry. Give me an address and I'll send you some to check out of you like You got good burn time with yours. I get around 7 minutes on my plugs.

Why are you all so into these firestarters i have never had a problem starting a fire using wood from wherever i was. Not even when it was raining cats and dogs. I dont get it, arent we a little to winerised ?
@RobertssurvivalsystemsАй бұрын
I can't speak for everyone. Myself I enjoy makeing them. And from a preparedness stand point it's just faster. From a survival standpoint it helps take out issues from lack of food and water, exhaustion and the like. I do agree that we all need to be able to make fire useing what's around us as well. I hope I was able to answer your question. If not let me know and I will try to do a better job.

Give us a good video of a wet weather stone age fire start then, Pete. That caloric burn starting a stone age fire vs using a ferro or Bic, not to mention the reliability factor has to be taken into account. Sounds like you're just trying to be a argumentative
@RobertssurvivalsystemsАй бұрын
That is a big factor. When comes to survival I don't take chances.

Show me that a couple sticks are more reliable than this during a downpour
@RobertssurvivalsystemsАй бұрын
@@Carl_Grissom_Sr I tend to look at my gear and other preps as buying time. If it's cold and wet out and that sun is going down I want a fire right now. Saves time and energy. So yes, I'm sticking with my fire starters lol.
