You need to update to some modern CAD system! Waiting a printer and cross referencing the address could be wasted time. Our fire department in the states have laptops in all the apparatus and as soon as the tones go off all the dispatched vehicles laptops update with the address for GPS, 911 caller notes, hydrant locations, etc. I do love the pictures from the history of the station scattered around and the mat at the bottom of the pole. Makes it easier on your knees.

The main reason for checking a map is for incidents that are a large distance away, this will help the crew pick a direct route closer to the general area, where the Satnav can then utilise smaller roads closer to the incident. The MDT (Mobile Data Terminals) onboard every appliance have all the elements you suggested in your comment. They are extremely advanced, and even go into detail such as the weakest points of every registered type of vehicle on the road in the UK for help with traffic collisions etc. They also display hydrant locations/status etc.

Well done, but they are Fire Appliances, never vehicles. They're literally in a class of their own "Fire Engine" & pay no road tax, nor do they require an MoT. It's a pumping appliance or a special appliance, but always,...an appliance. Drill complete Sir!

Why are ba sets stowed in the lockers and not in the cab?
@cnsmooth Жыл бұрын
THey have sets in the cab as well., The ones in the lockers are for the secondary team who will most likely be setting up entry control or securing a water source at a shout, so dont need immediate access to their set.
