Here in Brazil we do not build wooden houses, they are made of masonry, bricks and cement...

In California we have earthquakes and why they are built with wood as it helps with the sway though codes have improved and still a lot of old homes with older codes that probably don't sway as well. The problem isn't the wood framing, the problem is fire penetrates the house through vents, eaves, windows, and fire hazards around the house. My house has a wooden frame but stucco exterior which is fire resistant but the above mentioned are the risks I am working on now to overcome, just not as easy as it sounds.

same here in the Philippines (Required in cities, but not strictly implemented in province areas) "Earthquakes" I don't see that as an excuse for stupidly using wood for a fire-prone location

There was a woman from Texas we ho invented a fireproof building material. Never heard of her again. It was on 60 minutes years ago.

Probably because it would effect alot of buisnesses who sell materials to home. You touch peoples money on anything. You become an issue, even if it progresses our species in a better way, its absoluting crazy sometimes our own kind stops itself from progressing, all because of money

Seems they might’ve surrounded/secured the property line, with river rocks as a barrier. Building smarter, is wise. Also seems they might’ve factored in a bunker as part of the house or separate from the house if possible. There has to be viable solutions for safety in the event of hazards/etc, there has to be and there is.

This ain't new. The US is just a cheap country. Why would you use wood anymore anyway?
@hamham577
@hamham577 3 жыл бұрын
It's actually really weird. Cause where I'm from ( not the US) it's the norm to build with concrete. I really found it strange how people in the states build with wood.

Because in earthquake areas there are too many points for the masonry work to shirt and break apart.
