I’m just beginning, I run into issues with dry spots. I’m in Texas gulf coast area working in my garage. On first coat of epoxy how smooth does it need to be, and does it matter if I use more epoxy than needed. On alcohol ink can I add as much as I want or such I limit colors and amount. Then letting first coat cure, do I just leave on turner the whole time. Then what’s your process on second coat, if it needs sanding, more ink, etc. on final epoxy how do I make sure it’s smooth all the way around

Love this cup ❤️ Quick question...when you're preparing for a craft show how many cups do you take? Obviously this is July 2020 and we're not going to any shows this summer...but I'm just starting to make cups for my family and I may do some craft fairs this winter... maybe! Lol

I took about 20 to the last show but wish I’d had more. I’m prepping to have at least 40 ready made and on hand for the holidays this year.

You mentioned the waves on the first cup. I ended up with that on my first cup. How do you fix that?
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
Another layer of epoxy with less heat. That can cause waves.

Hi. You sand when you finish the cup? If you do how you make it? Thanks for your tutorial, it exactly that I looking for. And, one more question, if y don't sand when you finish, a work and colors look like glass. Thank you

I do not sand after the final coating of epoxy. Only when I am adding another layer of epoxy or just before I do the decal.

I get so many dry areas or fish eyes that I usually acetone it and start over. How do you avoid them? I never have seen you have any spots like that.

I’ve definitely had to battle with them, but since I started making sure NOT to touch the cup with barehands beforehand it seems like I don’t have them so bad.

Can this be done on plastic tumblers??
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
I have heard mixed information on this. The main disadvantage (other than the possible chemical reaction) is that plastic isn’t rigid enough to keep from cracking the epoxy. I’ve seen people do it successfully, but I don’t plan to attempt it.

Could u just use a straw & gently blow it in the direction u want it to go instead of taking it off & moving it all around? I don’t know,just thought. Tia
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
I would think you could as long as the epoxy is runny enough. There may not be as much movement but might be a good alternative if the arm isn’t removable. Just keep in mind the fumes you might be breathing in if you heat it up. 🙂
