I really like the way the green one turned out. Both are beautiful. The dark spots give it more depth I think and makes the brighter colors pop out more. Good job on both

When you finished and put it under the heat lamp but kept turning it - you said you did it for 4 hrs to cure. If it is cured do you leave it turning won the turner without the heat lamp or do you stop turning it completely and just let it set? How long before you take it off the holder and can set it down on the table? Do you use a top coat? Thx so much. (Sorry for the multitude of questions 😂.)

Funky nice. How do you not get it I side if the cup. Also when you expoxy how does it not go inside as well, never done one and really scared to. The inside of rim looks really nice how do you do that
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
I try not to spread the epoxy downward at the rim. I mostly go upward and that helps a LOT. worst case, you can carefully cut and clean up anything that goes inside. 😁

The oils from your hand could have something to do with dry spots but it’s also how you drop the ink on. If you drop the ink more on the side as it turns instead of directly on the top you epoxy won’t move away from the cup as much.
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
I typically drop right on top unless I’m trying to get it long and skinny. I change it up depending on what spots I’m filling. I’m glad others have confirmed the oils theory! I won’t be handling them without gloves anymore!

I love it how do you heat the Apoxsee
@phillipchristy28014 жыл бұрын
Denise if you want it warmed up before mixing you can sit the bottles in some warm water for about 5 minutes or so depending on how much epoxy you have in the bottles. The epoxy I use recommends using it above 72 degrees. Be sure not to get any water in your epoxy.

Kelly Whatley hi there! I just use a shop light with a 300 watt bulb. Not too close or it can get too hot. I’ve even yellowed my epoxy by putting a lamp too close.
@ni58404 жыл бұрын
Hello, is the main purpose of the heat gun is to spread the alcohol ink around?
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it heats the epoxy to allow movement.
@KWells270554 жыл бұрын
I am new to the cups so forgive me if my question is dumb, but if I didn't want to do a decal, would I be done with the cup at this step? Or does it need more epoxy?
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
I would do one to seal it. The inks can come off on something. That’s actually how I know if I top coated, if it comes off with an alcohol pad I know it needs a coating.

To add the 2nd layer of paints, do you need a second layer of epoxy first?
@ThePurpleStitch3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Once the base layer is cured enough, then do the next layer the same again.
@sillyrabbit41964 жыл бұрын
It is the oil from your hands that causes it to 'fisheye' or have dry spots. Wear your gloves whenever you touch your cup and clean it with alcohol before adding epoxy. IDK about shop towels but alcohol takes care of that. 91% and good luck finding it right now.
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
I know! the world is in a crazy place right now. I just had never even given it much thought until a few comments on a few videos asked what caused them. I was fairly confident that it was a decent theory. 😂

There are several great brands out there. I really steer towards KS resin (mostly because I'm used to it). Not all are FDA compliant when it comes to food/contact safety, but it will be listed in the brand FAQ section.

This maybe a stupid question but do you apply the ink over freshly poured epoxy or is it already cured?
@ThePurpleStitch4 жыл бұрын
Georgina P this video is kind of both. I split the process so that my colors would not blend into a brown mess. TYPICALLY it would be over a freshly poured epoxy base like the first part of the video. The first time I tried this, too many colors were lost because they blended.
