Diamonds are overrated for most rich people. I bought a real diamond engagement ring for my Fiance. During pandemic , we both worked crazily in the public field and were never at home. One night, we came back home after being robbed. Insurance only covered half the value of the diamond ring because they said the resale value dropped. My point being is, buy what you can afford and what you are comfortable with. Don't let social media and friends affect your budget. Diamond is just a rock at the end of the day and even one day , you are in the misery and need quick cash, its not worth that much. The best investment jewelery are watches like Rolex. These never drops in prices but only goes up. Do yourself and your woman a favour, get a moissonite ring but also get her a Rolex watch. She will be very happy.

I have a pendant, earrings, and ring. You'd be surprised how many jewelry stores sell lab rubies, because of prices for rubies. Don't the US still have an embargo against Burma. So we don't import rubies from them now, unless we changed that. Lab stones are not fake, like rubies are grown from a small "seed" of the real thing.

Moissanite is actually DOUBLY REFRACTIVE. Meaning, it splits the light that goes into the stone, and bounces off the facets and back up to the eye into TWO. That's why you can take a diamond and moissanite that both have the exact dimensions and facet pattern, put them side by side and the moissanite will look like it has more facets. Which is why you get more of the flashes of white and colors dancing around the gem. They’ve got to cut moissanite differently to get it to appear more subdued like that of a diamond. But Charles & Colvard have made some amazing headway in developing cut patterns to help moissanite look almost identical to it’s diamond counterpart. But it takes a great lapidary to pull it off.

Darker ones go on yellow and rose gold. The lighter ones go on platinum and white gold. They have a few videos as well. The darker ones are much cheaper cause they are more "flawed" the darker they are but they usually aren't noticed as much as yellow gold and hence used on yellow gold the most.
@jdogg5543
@jdogg5543 2 жыл бұрын
Also out of the 4 C's. Cut is always the most important in case you were wondering. They also have excellent cut. Ideal cut (which is after excellent) and some places super rare have a cut called super ideal hearts and arrows cut and they have a trademarked patent machine to cut them perfectly like that. They also have single cut which is I believe 16 facets and full cut which has 57 facets. Some melee (melee is small diamonds) have only single cut because some jeweler's don't think you will notice or that it is worth it for the extra effort to cut small melee diamonds fully. So you have 1. Type of cut. (Single or full) 2. Cut quality (bad, good, very good, excellent, idea,l and in some rare places, super ideal hearts and arrows. 3. You have types of cut designs..(8 hearts, 10 hearts, cats eye, constellation, round brilliant etc). As you can see, cut gets overwhelming and confusing very quickly. Color DEF almost all look the same and GHI almost look like them as well to naked eye which can save lots of money. And then JKL can be used on yellow gold to save money. In my opinion, white gold is the most expensive out of yellow gold and rose gold because it uses near colorless diamonds which are more expensive and it needs to be rhodium plated. White gold 18k also cost more than platinum at the moment.

Not trying to split hairs, but just to clarify for folks that may not be aware. Moissanite is a natural stone. It's just that often moissanite found is not large enough. So they sre not exclusively man made. But probably most of them that folks purchase are. If someone was worried about avoiding destructive mining processes, they may want to check how the moissanite was obtained

I don’t own any pure Diamond as they cost too much, but have noticed a slight reduction in price. That being said, my favourite diamond like has to be natural Zircon (mainly from Cambodia). Zircon is much older than Diamond by about one billion years, comes in many colours and has an outstanding fire. Natural diamonds carry the prices they do because of DeBeer's propaganda. They are rare, hard to find, labor intensive, blah blah blah! If they are so rare, why is it that virtually 50% of the population of the 1st world owns at least one? If I were in the market, I would love to buy synthetic diamonds. They are diamonds. Period. Only alot cheaper, and come in affordable colors. Pinks and blues are the best. Moissanite is a tad too sparkly for my tastes, but will do in a bind. You too can own Elizabeth II's diamond collection if you go for moissanite. She will look down her royal nose at you, regardless of what you chose to wear.

Moissanite has higher luster than diamond, more fire (colorful flash) and brilliance (white flash) than diamond. If you want something that's even more like what people think a diamond is like than a diamond is, moissanite. Diamond is slightly harder, but moissanite is still harder than everything but diamond. Moissanite is tougher (fractures less easily. Diamond also has two planes of fracture, moissanite has none. As an example of how toughness works, you wouldn't think twice about cutting something on a plate, but you're careful how you set the same plate in a sink) Moissanite occurs in meteorites but not at sizes for gemstone jewelry, so you don't have to worry about the ethics of where the stone was sourced and what the profits were used for You're right. It's all down to tastes, different people value different things.

Anne Davis i guess my point is people put a lot of value on simply being a natural diamond. None of the options exactly light up a room.... I don’t agree with the whole idea by the way. But once the original rational for investing in a “precious” diamond is gone, why substitute with anything?
@annedavis3340
@annedavis3340 4 жыл бұрын
@@aajohnsoutube diamonds aren't an "investment" in the first place, the price of gold has gone up and the price of diamonds have gone down this year because of current events (Tiffany's dropped the price of their diamonds 10% already) I prefer not buying things that have an artificially inflated value from stockpiling the item in a warehouse to create an impression of "rareness" I would rather have 3 less-expensive rings than one very expensive one People get shiny things because they're pretty and they like looking at it Different people have different values, though. If you wanna get a tattoo or a toaster oven as a symbol of your love, you do you :)
@annedavis3340

@@aajohnsoutube natural diamonds are like cars: they lose value when you drive it off the lot. You can buy an engagement ring, drive across town to an unaffiliated store that day and try to sell it there: you won't get an offer anywhere near what you just paid. If you bought a piece that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor or Marilyn Monroe, the inherent value will be the provenance more than the stones themselves. But most people aren't buying a ring that was Colleen Moore's or something, so you might as well get something that's physically identical and costs less if you want a diamond imo

So, like a car losing value as soon as it leaves the dealer's lot, how much lower in value are these gems worth as soon as they leave the jewelry store?? So lab diamond is not actually real diamond?
@rileysmith4595
@rileysmith4595 3 жыл бұрын
Nope, they are the same. These days, lab diamonds are generally considered more sustainable/ethical. The only drawbacks are that GIA, the most reputable diamond lab does not grade lab grown diamonds. However other labs like IGI do grade them, and still have good quality assurance. Lab diamonds also contain a microscopic serial number, but this is only visible with a powerful microscope and does not affect its clarity.

@@meowsparkles537 If you're referring to both being man-made, then yes. But if you compare moissanite to a lab-grown diamond, moissanite is a wannabe diamond if that makes sense.
