Diamonds are overrated for most rich people. I bought a real diamond engagement ring for my Fiance. During pandemic , we both worked crazily in the public field and were never at home. One night, we came back home after being robbed. Insurance only covered half the value of the diamond ring because they said the resale value dropped. My point being is, buy what you can afford and what you are comfortable with. Don't let social media and friends affect your budget. Diamond is just a rock at the end of the day and even one day , you are in the misery and need quick cash, its not worth that much. The best investment jewelery are watches like Rolex. These never drops in prices but only goes up. Do yourself and your woman a favour, get a moissonite ring but also get her a Rolex watch. She will be very happy.

Moissanite is actually DOUBLY REFRACTIVE. Meaning, it splits the light that goes into the stone, and bounces off the facets and back up to the eye into TWO. That's why you can take a diamond and moissanite that both have the exact dimensions and facet pattern, put them side by side and the moissanite will look like it has more facets. Which is why you get more of the flashes of white and colors dancing around the gem. They’ve got to cut moissanite differently to get it to appear more subdued like that of a diamond. But Charles & Colvard have made some amazing headway in developing cut patterns to help moissanite look almost identical to it’s diamond counterpart. But it takes a great lapidary to pull it off.

Darker ones go on yellow and rose gold. The lighter ones go on platinum and white gold. They have a few videos as well. The darker ones are much cheaper cause they are more "flawed" the darker they are but they usually aren't noticed as much as yellow gold and hence used on yellow gold the most.
@jdogg55432 жыл бұрын
Also out of the 4 C's. Cut is always the most important in case you were wondering. They also have excellent cut. Ideal cut (which is after excellent) and some places super rare have a cut called super ideal hearts and arrows cut and they have a trademarked patent machine to cut them perfectly like that. They also have single cut which is I believe 16 facets and full cut which has 57 facets. Some melee (melee is small diamonds) have only single cut because some jeweler's don't think you will notice or that it is worth it for the extra effort to cut small melee diamonds fully. So you have 1. Type of cut. (Single or full) 2. Cut quality (bad, good, very good, excellent, idea,l and in some rare places, super ideal hearts and arrows. 3. You have types of cut designs..(8 hearts, 10 hearts, cats eye, constellation, round brilliant etc). As you can see, cut gets overwhelming and confusing very quickly. Color DEF almost all look the same and GHI almost look like them as well to naked eye which can save lots of money. And then JKL can be used on yellow gold to save money. In my opinion, white gold is the most expensive out of yellow gold and rose gold because it uses near colorless diamonds which are more expensive and it needs to be rhodium plated. White gold 18k also cost more than platinum at the moment.

Moissanite has higher luster than diamond, more fire (colorful flash) and brilliance (white flash) than diamond. If you want something that's even more like what people think a diamond is like than a diamond is, moissanite. Diamond is slightly harder, but moissanite is still harder than everything but diamond. Moissanite is tougher (fractures less easily. Diamond also has two planes of fracture, moissanite has none. As an example of how toughness works, you wouldn't think twice about cutting something on a plate, but you're careful how you set the same plate in a sink) Moissanite occurs in meteorites but not at sizes for gemstone jewelry, so you don't have to worry about the ethics of where the stone was sourced and what the profits were used for You're right. It's all down to tastes, different people value different things.

@@aajohnsoutube natural diamonds are like cars: they lose value when you drive it off the lot. You can buy an engagement ring, drive across town to an unaffiliated store that day and try to sell it there: you won't get an offer anywhere near what you just paid. If you bought a piece that belonged to Elizabeth Taylor or Marilyn Monroe, the inherent value will be the provenance more than the stones themselves. But most people aren't buying a ring that was Colleen Moore's or something, so you might as well get something that's physically identical and costs less if you want a diamond imo

Lab diamonds still have a pretty big carbon footprint. Though, you are right it doesn't directly dig up mother earth. Moissanite is the most friendly way to go Plus, unless you buy a terribly overpriced, yet not better brands like Charles and Colvard is now, you will always be able to get your money almost entirely back from a high quality, well cared for moissanite peace.

How much lower, at this time, Nov. 2022, is the resale price of these 3 types of gems as compared to their original purchase or sale price??? How much is lost at resale, at this time?? So, like a car losing value as soon as it leaves the dealer's lot, how much lower in value are these gems worth as soon as they leave the jewelry store?? (i.e., diamonds, moissanite, & lab gown diamonds??? And would they lose in value at the same percentage across the board??)

I’m 65, married for 39 years. If I could do it over again I’d skip the diamond and get a beautiful gold band. There are so many things you can do with the money. I would have liked a really special honeymoon. And, if you wear nice or good jewelry people will assume your gems are real. In the end it’s stuff, and stuff you have to insure.

So lab diamond is not actually real diamond?
@rileysmith45953 жыл бұрын
Nope, they are the same. These days, lab diamonds are generally considered more sustainable/ethical. The only drawbacks are that GIA, the most reputable diamond lab does not grade lab grown diamonds. However other labs like IGI do grade them, and still have good quality assurance. Lab diamonds also contain a microscopic serial number, but this is only visible with a powerful microscope and does not affect its clarity.

Can you explain the difference between a lab created vs a moissanite since they are both "unnaturally created"
@xxsam0917xx3 жыл бұрын
As fas as I know, moissanite isn't a diamond. Lab-created however, is a diamond with the same chemical specs like a natural diamond. The only difference is lab-created doesn't cause environmental issues because it's manmade.
@meowsparkles5373 жыл бұрын
@@xxsam0917xx Thank You I understand what you just explained but mossianite and lab created are both " Lab Created" so what is the difference? None, basically they are the same because they are "CREATED" by a human, am I right?? jw
@xxsam0917xx3 жыл бұрын
@@meowsparkles537 If you're referring to both being man-made, then yes. But if you compare moissanite to a lab-grown diamond, moissanite is a wannabe diamond if that makes sense. Moissanite only looks like a diamond but it's not actually a diamond. That's why they are an alternative to a diamond and is very inexpensive. Lab-grown diamonds are still costly but not compared to a natural diamond.

In a naturally mined diamond, a color range D-F are all colorless. In looking at many diamonds and Moissanite, the faceting of a natural diamond if better and more brilliant, even if there is less fire. There's definitely a big prince difference among the three choices.

@johnz53594 жыл бұрын
Natural diamond's resale value is a tiny fraction of what you bought it for anyway. Because diamonds are so plentiful, they're basically worthless. Companies that own the diamonds release only a small amount to keep the prices artificially high.
