I like how the assault rifle from the first game and the heavy cannon from the second feel like normal infantry weapons beefed up for soldiers in futuristic power armor. The assault rifle is a squad support weapon that's used like a rifle. Instead of an under barrel grenade it can mount a six tube micromissile launcher. The heavy cannon is a crew-served light machine gun with two missile pods that's been modified to be used as a squad automatic weapon.

The Doom sword is actually based on a real type of sword called the Executioner sword. They're essentially purpose-built for cutting heads off of people that you need to execute since axes were to inaccurate and couldn't easily lob the whole head off in one go sometimes so most of them came without a tip and some did have a fanned out tip like the Doom sword
@jooot_68502 жыл бұрын
I thought the executioner’s sword was meant to be more noble method of execution than the axe? Far as I know a solid axe could do the job just fine but the aristocracy thought that death by sword was more dignified
@rexanderson45852 жыл бұрын
@@jooot_6850 it's probably part of it but when I was talking about the axe it's because not everybody had the money to get an axe that was long enough to take a head off of one hit if you didn't hit it dead center
@XenonLxx2 жыл бұрын
@@rexanderson4585 what? That makes zero sense. Axes are some of the cheapest/easiest weapons to make and maintain. They have way less metal than swords, don't need to be perfectly sharp, and steel choice matters a lot less there. For length, anyone could make a handle as long as they wanted, and they could swap them around if needed, it's just wood. Not to mention anyone needed an axe, a sword was only good for killing, but an axe was an essencial tool of everyday life for work. Jooot is correct about swords being more noble.

@@XenonLxx that is true but the most common axe's were the ones that were meant for chopping wood rather than battle which would be the ones ideally for chopping off head since they have a thinner ax head not to mention the blade would have to be longer to make sure it would come off in one go

You guys completely whiffed the Rocket Launcher... From what I've examined of the Rocket Launcher is that, it is a Short Barrel, Recoilless, Self-Loading, Semi-Automatic Rifle. The magic of this weapon is in the versatility of the ammunition. It can fire rocket propelled warheads that are capable of air bursting via a remote detonation control, and each warhead is capable of splitting into 3 separate smaller rockets with homing capabilities. The only unrealistic thing about it is the fact that the Rockets seem to be just sitting in the chamber burning fuel and the fact that the operator gets a face full of back blast everytime the weapon is fired.

So, the reason a chain gun has its name, is effectively based on how it spins the barrel. A chain gun holds a chain barring that spins the barrels using an external source. Basically, the firing action is chain based, rather than the cartridges moving back into the action.

The chain in the chain gun is hooked up to the motor and action, and the chain (once the motor runs) is loading and extracting the cartridge.

Paul mentioned some of the finest shotguns are made in England. Look no further than Holland & Holland of London. Their double-barrel shotguns cost about $80,000. H&H is responsible for the creation of the some of the most powerful rifle cartridges on the planet. .700 Nitro Express can be used to hunt elephants or aircraft, whichever you prefer.

I know you want to creat distance. But with the Meathook impaling your target and pulling you towards them, I feel like that would be enough of a distraction for them to not be able to get a shot off. Due to the immense amount of pain/dying they would be.

So the reason why a chaingun is called a chaingun (using the M230 as an example) isn't because it uses a chain to move the actual weapon, it uses a chain to drive the action. Most guns, even big autocannons like the M242 Bushmaster on the Bradley, 2A42 on the BMP-2, etc use the propellant gases, the recoil of the cartridge being fired or sometimes both to drive the action. A chaingun on the other hand uses an external source of power to drive the action, in this case a chain. It does this on a continuous loop basically like a motorcycle or bicycle chain.

A chaingun uses an external power source to cycle the weapon‘s action instead of using the propellant of the ammunition, and to do that it got a chain drive similar to a motorcycle. Afaik the M242 Bushmaster is a typical chaingun.
