Hi Marty. Thanks for your comment. I have continued to work on this model since creating this presentation 14 years ago. A significant amount of additional work has been done since then. I have completed other areas of the ship including the complete Fireball Junior interior front to back, Professor Matic’s Navigation Bay, and the Ejection Room. Central Control for the main section of the ship has been updated as well. Also modeled in CAD are Robert the Robot, all the Jetmobiles and the Hover Car. All of these CAD models will be used to create physical models. My 3D printed Fireball XL5 model is currently underway and will be 8-Ft long when completed. So, lots of good stuff happening…..

Fantastic work and true to the smallest detail on the original XL5 design. You deserve a medal for this.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to comment. I always appreciate the feedback. An update on my Fireball XL5 CAD model since this presentation was posted years ago: Some improvements have been made to the XL5 ship based on new source material I was able to obtain. Minor tweaks were made to increase the level of accuracy- particularly to the control deck on the main portion of the ship. Additionally, I have recreated the entire interior of Fireball Junior (behind the main cabin doors) along with all of the mechanicals within the fuselage (which can be seen in cut-away views). Finally, I have modeled completely detailed and accurate representations of the jet mobiles, the Hovercar and Robert the Robot.

This is magnificent, and is clearly based on the highly detailed 9-foot studio filming model. Views we could never have seen on the show.

I was talking with my wife about the earliest programs that we could remember and out of the blue this one came up...Mind you that its debut was the same year that I was born, therefore, I only enjoyed this show for about 1 year before it disappeared from the air....and now...It is a brand new day...Thank you very much for the effort to bring back a childhood memories.

The space craft of my youth, I had many a dreams of exploring space and living aboard Fireball XL5, this and the Jupiter II...with the Supercar in the cargo bay.

Brought me right back to the set I got for Christmas, 1966. I was seven years old and loved to take the ship to the beach to "crash land" it into the Long Island Sound surf in Massapequa.... The beach at the end of Dolphin Drive. Good Times, man!

Put it into production, it's that good. These are fine renderings, 'David'.

Very nice, but I was always bothered about how people were able to get back into the rear of Fireball XL-5 since the forward capsule had an rocket engine when it separated from the main ship.

Wouldn't a big glass cockpit be a bit hazardous in a vacuum environment?

Blue Print for Space X's Star Ship?

I suppose XL5's design was rather innovative, since most science fiction spacecraft were either upgraded V2s or flying saucers.

Okay, thanks. I was just curious whether the Gerry Anderson folks spelled "RADIATION" with two "T"s on the show.

I love this work. FANTASTIC! Didn't TV21 comic publish a "cut-away" version of Fireball XL5 when I was a boy? It would be greatif you could locate that and create a "walk-thu" the whole ship. Thanks, it took me back

Millenium Falcon cockpit owes A LOT to Fireball XL5 ... uh ... as does C3PO apparently ...not to mention the whole Supercar / Landspeeder comparison.

That is beautiful, obviously a labor of love. Did that one gauge actually say "INTERIOR RADITATION" in the show?
