I’m honestly just staggered by the beauty of creation. I stopped half way through to leave this comment, but for real. So many people just use things, or consume content. How many people actually CREATE things, or repurpose things. It’s amazing. I’m a big old city slicker but one day I hope I can have a house in the burbs and build my own forge. So amazing.

My last EDC neck knife got to the point where the maker couldn't even sharpen it anymore and just replaced it for me! I use mine for everything and that's what I believe a knife like this is made for! From cutting rope, wire, leather to plastic and everything in between to using it in daily maintenance work that I do! It will be a EDC working knife for sure!

I've made a lot of these little all damascus skeleton handled utility knives. One thing I learned the hard way is, that the area at the butt end, where you hold the blade with your tongs, doesn't etch the same way as the rest of the blade, due to the tongs stealing heat away. Now, I always twist a makeshift handle on, out of coat hanger wire, for the tongs to hold onto. This way, the heat stays the same throughout and your final etch is more even. Not that yours etched differently; it seems ok. Just a tip.

What a beautiful piece! Yeah, we all love hand sanding for sure XD If I won this knife I would probably wear and use it daily as my go-to-utility-blade from bushcrafting to box-cutting. Recently lost my own neck knife in the woods, which was the first one I ever made and since I can't make Damascus steel myself this would be the most awesome replacement for the lost one and save me a ton of hand sanding. However wins it - hope that person will use the hell out of it and have it for a long time and I also hope you keep these nice videos coming - thanks for sharing this build!

I like the balance of blade to handle ratio, and how much attention you gave to the handle and blade shape/profile. If I won the knife I might braid up a nice box or round paracord lanyard for my pinky with a cool bead. Daily edc use in the kitchen, garden, and harvesting chickens. Eventually I might use it to process some wild game and fish. Keep up the good work. 👏 👍

This is an absolutely stunning knife. This would be an every day knife for me, from processing food to bushcrafting. One day I'll make damascus, just not yet until I have the tooling to do so. For now, simple blades it is! Keep up the good work! I learn a lot from you. As another function I just thought about, this would make an outstanding hunting knife.

Great work! I really appreciate the blade profile. I do t personally like crazy blade shapes, and this is one that I really like. The pattern looks great, and the handle seems to be properly proportioned to the blade. I would actually carry this on my belt, I dont like wearing things around my neck. And it looks so good that the improper spacing between the holes is entirely forgivable.

That's a solid pattern! I've never really thought about twisting damascus but it makes sense. I like how the tip forging didn't distort much. This looks like a perfect little knife for a cord wrap and stash inside my plate carrier...last ditch sort of knife. Beautiful work!

I’d like to enter as a outdoors person in Australia, the knife would be used on the farm and on fishing and camping trips. I love watching you craft metal as it reminds me of when I was much younger and had to forge my pick daily when I was mining sapphires underground. I used a hand wound forge with charcoal made by burying a smouldering tree. Thanks for your talent, making these videos.

Amazing process. It looks like a series of mistakes you're making, that are manipulated into the perfect outcome. So beautiful. I thought you trashed it most when I saw all those cracks after the twisting. Thanks for sharing the whole process. I could just gawk at it all day, rather than use it, but this would be an impressive cheese knife, although I don't know if damascus can be used for food. Be safe.

Im in love with the pattern! I would use it at work in a microbrewery for opening malt sacks (they are stitched together with some really tough yarn so a sharp knife is a must) and hop bags as well as cutting stuff for lunch like bread, ham, apples and tomatoes.

I also appreciate that you explain any mistakes, or things you would improve. Thanks for making these videos, and making us all a little bit smarter. As a side note, that gorgeous blade would get used for everything if I get lucky! Congratulations on the 10k milestone!

hey man I recently found out that you can round the middle section of the twist damascus bar out leaving just enough square to grab on each end and then twist it. this way you don't end up with all the inclusions after flattening the bar like you had in this video. the pattern is a bit different but to me its worth the time saved.

i'm loving the handle holes, even with the spacing that's "off". it almost looks intentional going from a larger gap down smaller. i'm surprised at how deep that etch is too... how long did you keep in the ferric chloride? and did you sand off with a high grit in between each acid bath?
