An Okanagan health worker who was fired during the COVID-19 crisis has renewed her plea for the vaccine mandate to be dropped in British Columbia.
Terri Perepolkin, previously a lab technologist at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, was one of about 2,500 health workers fired in the fall of 2021 for refusing to comply with Dr. Bonnie Henry’s vaccination order.

In the wake of controversial vaccine mandates, there's growing speculation about potential future repercussions for those in positions of authority. Should high-ranking officials within the NDP and health authorities face legal consequences for their decisions, it's possible that lower-level employees may rapidly shift their stance to support those adversely affected by the mandates. However, this change of heart could come too late for mid- and lower-level management teams to avoid accountability for their roles in implementing these policies. The continued dismissal of workers based on their vaccination status, despite evolving scientific understanding and changing public health landscapes, may be viewed as short-sighted in hindsight. As political tides shift, there could be significant legal and professional ramifications for those who enforced these mandates without considering long-term implications or alternative approaches.
