Best part is the army is getting rid of their UH-60’s and MH-60’s so cal won’t be the only service deploying them. The shift from the current helis to either the Bell pitch or the Sikorsky and Boeing pitch will start in 10 years
@ImpendingJoker3 жыл бұрын
@@overlordgaming752 The Army has never operated the MH-60. Both the MH-60R and MH-60S are Navy birds and neither are being retired as they are practically new airframes. As for the Army, they are getting rid of the older UH-60As and some of the UH-60Ls but it has nothing to do with CalFire getting them. The new Firehawks that are coming online are new purpose built aircraft that were never military so your whole comment is wrong from the get go.

When I was first getting into the fire department I would voluntarily go to any fire I saw. I drove from Redwood City to Vacaville a huge fire. I was 27 then. I wanted experience. I had my Levi’s my yellow jacket and a plastic MSA helmet fire department helmet. I hooked up with a CDF crew up in the hills where there was nothing but Madrone burning, Actually Manzanita brush. They had cut a line in it was two in the morning and we took a break. The fire had burned down went left to our left and burn back up. Without much notice maybe 30 seconds those winds were on us. It blew the fire toward us and thank God for the captain who said stay close to the burn. I unloaded 100 foot pack of 1 inch off my back and a Pulaski. We just dropped everything. We went into the burn fire continued and away from us. We went back a few hours later at daybreak and the hose was missing or gone burned up just fittings left. The ax handle had burned up and just the metal part of the Pulaski it was sitting there. That freaking fire was so hot the radiant burn my neck as we were getting away from it.Anyway retired from the fire department about 27 years later. That was a good lesson for me never had that experience after that. I saw this video and thought this was a good opportunity to share my experience with somebody stay close to the black. Thanks for posting again. Mike retired
