NEW Cal Fire Dozer & Fire-hawk Responding to the Salmon Wildfire in El Dorado County CA

The Salmon Fire. At around 12:00PM CHP was getting reports of a Large Fast moving Wildfire heading towards homes on Salmon Falls Road near the Salmon Falls Bridge. A large plume was visible for miles and air attack resources were requested. Within a couple hours the forward progress was stopped, but not will multiple close calls and minor injuries for firefighters. Evacuation warnings were placed but were soon released after containment of the fire. 20+ were scorched in El Dorado County from this Fire.

Nice footage. You got the Huey, the S2-T, the OV-10 Bronco, and the new CAL FIRE Hawk. If the DC-10 was ready you would have probably caught that too! Also got a bunch of type 1 and type 3 engines, water tender, a dozer a CC hand crew. CAL FIRE was putting a lot of its resources to use and you caught all of it. Good job.

These areas have been designed by nature to burn every 20 years. They are going to need to find a way to allow fires to burn without burning the homes. Require a large fire-break between natural areas and neighborhoods?

@@TheBandit7613 A lot of them are started and controlled by the firefighters to help prevent the spread from other fires headed into that direction. You are right about nature having these happen for a long time but nature doesn't take into account where homes are constructed.

Yup your right. I'm surprised they only had two axles on the trailer, a third would add more braking capacity. They will probably roll that thing at some point, given er shit through winding hilly roads will smoke your brakes if your not careful. -I notice they didn't cross the chains at the back of the machine either, which is how I learned to tie down equipment- nevermind I watched it again, they hooked binders to the tracks which is acceptable

All you have to do is increase your power setting and anti-torque. I believe the fire hawk can manage the power setting automatically when refilling.

Cal Fire and other agencies tend to use smaller water tankers (known as tenders, the aircraft you see are called tankers) because they can maneuver them better on small, narrow fire roads and are more stable when going off road.

It must be a full time job putting out fires in California...
