The problem is education. Years ago people moved up to management from the workforce. For the most part thins worked well. This would not have happened. Now-a-days you need a degree to read a resume. The educated try to make themselves seem more important with fancy labels and meeting to discuss what happened in the last meeting, decisions can't be made for fear of offending someone or doing it wrong. Hence, nothing gets done. Cut supervisory staff by 75% and thing will get done

Emergency contracts could easily and quickly have been established.

Regarding Arctic Fire: They had NO CONTRACT with Parks Canada or the town of Jasper. As a prime contractor, Parks Canada must ensure Workers Compensation, training requirements, command structures and proper contracts are in place prior to beginning any work. Any company or individual CANNOT just show up at any worksite and go to work. There is no doubt the forest fire load and fire risk management could have and should have been handled differently, but the Arctic Fire story is one sided….

That is absolute "Bullfeathers" The report states a well trained, well equipped Firefighting organization presented themselves to the Parks Service at the time of an emergency and you think the time should be taken to draw a contract and get the lawyers involved.

@@BobRoss-yw1cf Sadly, that’s the way it works. The lack of planning and mutual aid contracts is still a massive failing of Parks Canada. Beyond the incredibly short sighted lack of mitigation for the 15 years prior to the fire.

Well they were there for a reason. Arctic fire didn't just wake up one morning and say, hey let's go to Jasper. They were contracted by someone. I have heard that the Alberta government and the insurance company's that were afraid of having to pay out billions of dollars contracted Arctic fire to be on standby. I can't verify that is all correct. None the less this is all on Parks Canada. Period.
