Simon: "Why did you come back for us?" Mal: "You're on my crew." Simon: "You don't even like me!" Mal: "You're on my crew. Why are we still talking about this?" This short exchange tells you everything you need to know about Mal. If he accepts you on his crew, he takes care of you and he doesn't let personal feelings get in the way of that.
@ingerasulffs3 жыл бұрын
But he did leave them and they could have easily died - Mal was lucky that they didn't and he can keep his "always does the right thing in the end" thing (but to be fair perhaps witch burning hill folk were not necessarily a common threat to consider) - yet he did leave them.
@KommandeurMumm3 жыл бұрын
@@ingerasulffs Yes he did, but he had to prioritize. The preacher was dying, River and Simon were just gone. At this point the crew didn't even know for sure if the pair ran away or were kidnapped. And even if they were kidnapped, it would be more likely for them to be kept alive (at least for a while) and not be killed immediately. People are kidnapped to fulfill a purpose, because they are needed for something (be it ransom or medical care), otherwise they would have been killed on the spot. With the shepherd dying and the pair most probably not in an immediately deadly danger, the shepherd had priority.

Gods I love Saffron. Your reactions continue to delight lol I'm going to join the chorus of people saying don't forget to watch the movie after you're through with the series, it wraps things up in a (mostly) satisfying way.

I honestly can't wait for you to watch the film continuation of this series, Serenity. You'll love the amount of River backstory in it

I’m so far behind in all of your reactions, but I’m loving them. Firefly and Serenity were utterly captivating. When Firefly was canceled, people went insane, and that’s when Josh Whedon pitched Serenity. They did a 10th anniversary special that explains a lot of the unfinished questions, especially with regard to who Enara was and why she was the way she was. Also, Nathan Fillion (Mal) made several funny references to Firefly in his television series Castle. And The Big Bang Theory made a ton of references to Nathan Fillion, Firefly and Serenity. Lol

Coming up on my favourite episode, lol. “A town called Jayne” just… makes me lol every time. In case you haven’t noticed, there is a rough pattern in episodes of “serious” then “funny”, so watching them in pairs is a great idea :)

After watching your great reactions and comments, you obviously really like this show. Your facial expressions and mannerisms add to your positive reactions. I love this show and am looking forward to your next reactions. Happy Thanksgiving.

Another pair of very different episodes: the first illustrates just how devoted Simon is to River & what he’s willing to do to protect her, while the second has one of the best guest characters and some very nice byplay between Mal & Inara. Wash gets a good moment too as he tries (and succeeds) to resist Saffron, as does Book with his running ‘special’ joke . . . hell, almost everyone gets some memorable bits in this one. This is one of their very best (vying with Shindig & Out of Gas as my favorite episode - not very original picks, I know, but sometimes an obvious choice is obvious for a very good reason!) Knew you’d really like both of these ones; am curious to see what you’ll think of the next two - another episode that focuses mainly on one character, while the other spreads the wealth around a little more with nice moments for most of the crew. Slangevar & Happy Thanksgiving.

@@StevesFunhouse I'm pretty sure she's seen both #7 & #8 by now as it takes some time from when an episode/film is watched to when it makes it on here. I certainly wouldn't go any further than the next set of episodes for exactly the reasons you say.

It is necessary to call your atrention to the final few seconds of Safe. They're eating. Jayne takes a roll, and passes the basket. River reaches and steals the roll from his plate. A wonderful little bit that shows something wonderful about the changing relationship betweeb them.

Back-to-back "Cow Episodes". --> Shindig: Cows acquired. Safe: Cows sold. Our Mrs. Reynolds: frickin' hilarious. No cows. It's fun to watch people fall in love with this crew. I love every single character... especially Kaylee, and Mal, and Inara.

"What? What? WHAT?" you have found a higher next level writing and direction. Loved your reactions. I know I am late but I have to watch you and the shows in sequence. It's so much fun to watch it with someone with a kindred spirit.
