Most Trekkies like the new ones and consider the Kelvin timeline as an excellent way to reignite the franchise without rewriting the existing material. Leonard Nimoy himself approved of the casting for the rebooted Enterprise crew and cried watching the movie. Anyone who doesn't consider Leonard Nimoy an authority on Star Trek clearly doesn't watch enough Star Trek to speak on it.

Idk if anyone said it yet, but in the original movies, it was spock that sacrificed himself for the crew in "the wrath of khan"...In this new timeline it was kirk.

To fully understand this film you must watch "Space Seed in the first season of the original series. Also watch The Wrath of Khan, the second Star Trek film from 1982.

Alot of people were divisive on bringing Khan into the fold in the Kelvin timeline and also for Cumberbatch playing him. I didn't see any issue with either. I thought they wrote it well and Cumberbatch acted his ass off in the role. He had done some movies prior to doing STID but was becoming more known for his portayal of Sherlock Holmes at the time. This film helped bring him into the bigtime Hollywood movies and a bigger reason he was cast to play Dr. Strange in the Marvel universe. All around a really good film! Lets see when she watches Beyond what she thinks of it!

The plot holes and terrible amateurish tell-don't-show writing in this one are 10x worse than the first one, hard as that is to believe... Orci and Kurtzman must be stopped...

This movie is an insult to "Wrath of Kahn". They added important lines from "Wrath of Kahn" that meant something in that movie but fell short in this movie. Kirk's death scene was stupid. This movie would have been decent if it were an original story instead of JJ being lazy again. The cast did a great job especially Dr. Strange. He made for such a great villain. I find it funny how Spock is complaining at the start about the Prime Directive even though what Spock did with the volcano was a violation of the Prime Directive.

High plains drifter Joe Kidd pale Rider and a comedy that almost nobody reacts to by him. Every which way but loose came out and around 1977 and 78. All of them are definitely worth checking out. Happy New Year to you and yours.

I can't think of a Hitchcock movie that would be more up Cassie's alley than To Catch a Thief. It's the most light hearted Hitchcock movie I can think of.

1:08 Hi Cassie, (My fav of the new Timeline films) This story is set in an alternate timeline known as the Kelvin Universe, named after the USS Kelvin, the first ship to encounter Nero’s vessel. It’s important to note that this timeline is canon and not a retelling. Both this timeline and the original Prime Timeline exist simultaneously within the expansive Star Trek multiverse. That’s the beauty of the Star Trek franchise-it’s one of the first to explore multiple stories at the same time while maintaining that they both coexist. The Kelvin Timeline branched off due to the interference of Nero and Spock traveling from the future. Future writers can decide which storyline to explore, giving them the creative freedom to choose from multiple timelines rather than being bound to just one.

This movie has a huge pro-Confederate and anti-Union bias and it really detracts from its quality. Inaccuracies like promoting the "Lost Cause" myth portraying Confederates as the innocent peace loving people and the Union as the family-butchering and home-burning zealots. Also consider the source material - written by a known member of the KKK.

I think that there is a problem with all the evil admirals in star fleet is a major problem that seems to never get addressed. like seriously when they promote these guys do, they just become evil. Also, Admiral Marcus is better know as robocop.

There is no real history in this fantasy film. Mel Gibson just has a hate on for the Brithish/English and just like in Braveheart he turns them into Nazis characters. Mel Gibson is an Australian- American with a Scottish father.

I didn't know people didn't like the prequels. I for one loved them. I thought they did an outstanding job matching the younger cast to the elder versions. I grew up with Star Trek as well as TNG. Yup, I'm that old. Practically have every episode memorized since I rewatched it all so many times with the syndicated channels on cable.

I'm an old school trekkie who absolutely loved the first Abrams film. I also enjoyed the third one (Star Trek: Beyond). THIS one, however, rubs me the wrong way in so many ways...starting right at the very beginning when they HIDE A STARSHIP UNDER WATER. First of all: why??? They can scan and monitor and beam back and forth from orbit just fine, thank you very much. Secondly: the underwater environment is completely different from the vacuum of space for which the ship was designed - there's a helluva lot of pressure, for one thing, that the ship's hull wasn't designed for. It makes no damn sense.

Josey Wales is such a badass, and there's so many quotable lines. I first watched this with my mom and older sister as a kid in the early 2000s, and we all quote lines from the film at times lol.

While I find this one and the first one quite derivative, Into Darkness does have an interesting take mirroring the original story somewhat. The Kelvin Timeline films aren't my absolute favourite, but they have their place and the cast does a good job keeping the characters' legacies.

One of my life-maxims (or death-maxims, depending on your viewpoint) is inspired by my own twist on a quote from Josey Wales. I'm a Christian, so I know where I'm going when I die. What is done with the former body is of no consequence whatever. So the maxim is, *_“When I die, just let me lie. Ants gotta eat, same as the worms.”_*
