Firefly Super FFST Initial Review and Modification Plan Overview from Jedi Jingle Maker

In this video, I take you through an update of all the modifications I made during a first phase of upgrades planned for this guitar. Phase 1 was intended to greatly stabilize and increase playability and tone. That goal was completely accomplished and I consider this guitar a favorite now. It is a daily rider in my collection of studio tools (guitars).
I purchased this guitar with my own money and am not affiliated with the brand in this video.

Rock on! That is a fantastic idea and made me think of doing something similar. I was thinking the finish could be sanded down a bit, fairly easily and with that cool texture it has, might come out really cool. During my process of modifying it, I went a bit too far with the fret hammer and lifted the end of one of the frets loose. So I need to glue the frets now, which is a skill I practiced on one of my other inexpensive guitars, not gonna claim that went well, but willing to try again... I love these guitars because they also allow me to learn how to work on guitars, which gives me lots of joy. I think their headstock shape is very attractive as well. One of the few I prefer to fender.

Yes, I like this headstock and the Schecter Nick Johnston style headstock which is similar to this one, but more rounded. I psychologically associate the Fender headstock with so many guitar heroes, it will always have a place in my heart, but I prefer this. Yeah, the tuners on my FFST had a lot of slop in them. I put on Hipshot tuners. I think Firefly tries to do too much. They must make their tuners in house and haven't got it quite down yet. The springs are fine, and a brass block costs a lot for doing almost nothing besides looking cool. I wouldn't have went with the ash body, it's a really heavy wood. My FFST was mahogany and weighs 7 lbs and I bet yours weighs over 8 lbs.

I went a little nuts with a fret hammer on this one and knocked a few frets loose on the ends... So I need to fix it, otherwise the thing is SUPER solid and actually sounds great with the stock pickups. First firefly I can say that about. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKrFdGqHatyMp5o

I just bought a Censtar, very similar to this. They are almost identical. I believe that Censtar is the manufacturer and they put whatever name on the headstock. Love my Censtar. Awesome for the price. True a beginner with no set up experience would have a hard time right out of the box. A couple of hours of tinkering on a set up and its a very good instrument.

Right on, the Censtar Strat looks really cool with the roasted maple neck. I think you are right, there is likely some bigger company that makes all these inexpensive value guitars. Which model did you get? Totally agree with the comment about beginners, it might be too much. However, if you love to mod guitars it is a dream scenario, all fixable problems with a good foundation.
