I am an American of Irish ancestry, of the McCarthy clan, 58 yrs old.... I grew up as a kid listening to the Beatles etc...and played in rock and roll bands as a teen youth....and I just LOVE THIS MUSIC SO SO MUCH ....I feel it in my heart ...I cry whenever I hear the Corries sing these old songs....(so many of the Scot's songs are so sad)......so beautiful, it touches me right into my heart.... perhaps I had some ancient connections of my ancestral past to the Scots....because I sure do identify with these songs...The way the Corries sing them is truly magical too...It would be so GREAT if a couple young guys in Scotland, who were good singers too, were to take up the guitar and learn all these old songs , and continue this wonderful traditional sound to keep it alive....and not let it fade into the mists of time....

I had this all my life, which is why I've had to move here. Best thing I ever did. The Highlands are the closest thing to heaven on this earth for me.

This music breaks my heart. My ancestors were likely driven from their beloved country and settled in Nova Scotia. I hear the pain and the love for their dear country. Their voices harmonize to touch my soul. Cabbie from Boston

I keep coming back to the old songs.. but if you live on another continent.. and cant afford to go back.. the emotion and memories will slowly kill you.. be careful

I lived in Dublin for most of the 70’s. I married my husband because I loved him more than I loved Ireland, but it was a toss up. Nearly 50 years later, my heart still longs for Dublin. I wish I could have both.

My ancestors were Irish. They fled Co. Fermanagh in 1840 for Australia. Even though I am 4th generation Australian, the old country is like a mother, calling me home. My heart and soul belong in Ireland.

When my family and I were vacationing on Mull, my spouse said, "Just think how strange you'd get to be if you lived on Mull."

This video is good in so many ways, as it spotlights the Corries' special talents. First the pipes and Ronnie's wistful voice sets a melancholy mood that is reinforced by Roy's gentle echoes. Then, underscored by the guitars, the pace picks up and Roy's lyrical and lilting tone, joined by Ronnie's subtle harmony, warms the listener's heart. A breeze is blowing and all is well with the world.

scotland is everything. scotland is all It is all we believe in.Scotlands is the land of all the people, from all over the world, who still believe in Honour, glory, humanity, tradition, joy of music, poetry, romanticism, true love. Scotland is Scotland. The finest land in the world along with Tuscany (not Italy). Scotland is what I miss everyday when Iam not there, in Islay or Inverness or Kyle of Lochalsh or Portree or Ballater or wherever. Scotland is where all the pure hearts belong.
