Ken, Popeyes, A&W, KFC, Papa John's, Taco Bell, Jollibee, Swiss Chalet, and Firehouse subs are chains not local restaurants. What people mean by eat local they mean eating at mom and pop locations. Those places are endangered to closing for good, chains will survive.

While these are chains yes, the people working in them are locals. This is their job. While the overall chain will survive, you don't know if this particular location will go out of business. Then all these local citizens would be unemployed. They don't deserve to lose their job anymore than a local mom and pop.I get what you are saying, but he's talking about the people's jobs, not the particular chain.

Some locations may be corporate owned (generally very few) but the vast majority are owned by local people who purchased a franchise. These franchisees pay for the use of the name but the buildings and contents are individually owned. All employees pay, benefits and taxes are the individual owners responsibility. The owners are local, the business is local and the employees are local. Their survival totally depends on your local support.

Love Firehouse subs! First had it when visiting a friend in Virginia Beach. Moved out of Ontario before I could try it there. That sub looks ginormous! Would definitely have to share with my boyfriend! Great review, Ken! Hope you and your family are well. Bummed as we were supposed to go back to Ontario to see my family but with everything going on had to cancel. Your vids are now giving us a little taste of home. Thank you. 😃😎

Firehouse and Jersey Mike's came to our town around the same time. Firehouse is by far higher quality and more variety. Liked their Meatball but am saving up for another ride down the pole.

I say this with much respect: I feel like "go out and get it now," implies that I need to stop whatever I'm doing right now and go experience this thing you're eating. I just have never felt that at Firehouse. I like it, but I feel it would be difficult for me to give any sandwich a go out and get it now. Just a nice hint when you have half of a sandwich or some leftover put it in a plastic bag so that it's still soft the next day and if you microwave it for only 30 seconds that warms things back up you could do it either in the plastic or in the paper that it comes in. But make sure you put it in a plastic bag overnight in the fridge. My favorite is a hook and ladder on white. And I agree helps to support the local, Firehouse is on locally by individuals in the community so they are still good ones to support in that aspect. Thanks for the great video keeps up the good work

If you go back to Firehouse subs again, I'd recommend getting either the Steamer, or the sweet and spicy meatball sub. They easily have the best meatball sub of any sandwich place.
