Nice job focusing on the positive things you do, David! I think it's really cool that you and Richard will be passing on traditional skills to students. We should be doing more of that in schools across the US. It saddens me to think that so many of the skills my grandparents needed to survive 100 years ago, have been lost. Hunting, trapping, fishing, canning, growing/raising food, etc were a way of life in our recent history but, today, most people wouldn't have a clue how to get started. That's what makes your channel attractive to people who value self-sufficiency and independence. Have a blessed day!

just like the way you are out there in a used truck with a saw, axe and maul. That gets right down to making a way of life out of labor and ambition. Good for you. If you're going to mess around in snow and some mud with that F250 I gently suggest you find a good small garage that does specialty work and have them put in an air front diff locker. You are using mostly 3Wheel drive otherwise. You want to lock up and make sure that all four are working when you NEED all four.

Been to a fire out your way several years back. Camp was set up in the fairgrounds there in Omak. The fire was out by Omak Lake. Do they still do the horse race down the big hill into the river? It sure it pretty country out there. Correction, it was 2001 and was the Virginia Lake Complex and I believe it was the St Mary's fire we were on. Or at least a fire that we were on. I believe we went to a couple different ones while on the complex.

Nice looking load of firewood there! Tamarack? That stuff sure does split easy! My cousin is married to a Quinault girl and they take me out on the rez to cut fire wood occasionally. Mostly fir and some hemlock. Every once in a while we'll find a dry one, but most of it needs to cure for a year before I burn it. Those standing dead ones you cut look bone dry. Enjoy watching you work for a living. Good, honest hard work! Tell your boy congrats on that big muley he shot! That was a monster deer!

I use to cut wood & split it. Burning natural gas is as cheap, if you have to buy wood. I really enjoyed splitting wood, get some good dry oak. Splits easy, get in a rhythm, boom, boom, boom. Split a bunch in nothing flat. Nothing wrong with burning wood, it’s hard work, if you can do it. I’d hate to have to depend on someone to cut, my own wood.
@mountainlifewithdavidkelsie

Yes I agree there are cheaper ways unless you cut your own wood… but man oh man there is not a heat source in this world that warms the bones like a good hot fire! We don’t have any hardwoods in my are just all conifers… Douglas fir and tamarack burn pretty hot… it’s not hard work at all well I guess because I love getting a sweat on and love cutting wood… take care my friend stay safe and warm thanks for the support we greatly appreciate it
