@pyrocrazy321 It was a composition that contained a binder, 3% starpol. The rest of the comp was just a non flammable mixture made for the demonstration.

Don't worry about the ads. I've been a longtime fan of your stupid simple fireworks tutorials, infact, i came by today just to grab the link, and send it to a mate of mine. Just wish you made more stuff, as it's very easy to just ship of a link rather then have to try and explain something myself. Thank you for your time and effort.

@vroomba03 Just plain water is in the bottle. The pellets are made out of a cheap birdseed called millet. It's the yellow seed that is in a lot of feeder mixes.

@zwartje66100 I believe the bowl is the bottom of a plastic barrel that has been cut in half. I don't know enough to recommend a specific rpm, it varies too much depending on the size of star and composition. A variable speed motor would be the way to go. I do not know the next time I will be able to get a video of this demonstrator, but I do plan on a video showing how to roll stars by hand eventually.

I literally had never thought I'd end up on *your* channel when looking up a good method for making firework stars 😉 this is like old school NightHawkInLight :P
@Nighthawkinlight13 жыл бұрын
@MrRyanesmyth No, the lead shot would be tiny and covered with a huge layer of composition. There's no extra danger from getting hit with the stars when using lead shot.

@panzuman Rolled stars are much better for ball shells. Cut are better for canister shells.

I would like to see a video or video series of you making a 3" (or larger) shell from all the basic materials to firing it.
@mrstickers213 жыл бұрын
@Nighthawkinlight i agree with you it doesn't need to be any longer . All was needed to know was how to get the millet seed started to get the comp rolling onto it . The only other thing to star rolling is creativeness with the colour layers and knowing what layers to prime. And it was a good video i learnt a few things. Thanks for uploading.

i use mustard seed (very small) and only about $2.50 for a bag of at least 20,000 seeds. i like the small size cause it gives me more comp on the star, but if you are just starting out use something larger like peppercorns or bird seed and be prepared to waste comp ( its a learning curve) also use a VERY FINE MIST BOTTLE! if the stars get to wet the fall apart into a sticky ball. and as the stars get bigger i go from a few sprays per comp add to 7-9. its all about feel. keep these vids up nighthawk i love that sh*t! :)

I plan to use a 10-15 gallon plastic livestock feeder (very durable) and a motor I took from a 10" craftsman bandsaw and I'll add a speed control so I can adjust the speed to my liking. I've never posted a video but I'll consider uploading one only if it turns out to be safe and effective to share with others.

@Nighthawkinlight IMO it's only thing of star mixture. It it's hard to ignite (sometimes primed with thick layer of black powder don't ignite) then cut stars are better. Sharp edges need less heat to ignite properly. It's important especially when star compound is made with lots of metal powder like Al or Mg. ;)

DO NOT USE A METAL BOWL in the sunlight like you you see in this video, to hold your comp while rolling stars. The shiny curved suface can and does focus the sun's rays to a point hot enough to ignite the material, espcially darker colored compositions (like prime).
