This is one hell of a journey, I'm not gonna make this into a fairytale but I always had a fiver dream of having my own crossette pump since I started to get more serious about this hobby and since then it was always on top of my head like some sort of a must-do. A few years later, when I first picked up my brass tool I was mesmerized by looking at it in my palms like, literally! Making crossettes and getting the right effect with them is different story, that's why I'm looking forward to more free time with my tool haha, so I can master or at least fill a firework shell with these and get that one of a kind effect - crossette effect! This video series on crossettes will serve as a solid base for beginners that want to learn about this technique, just as me.

The best filler is a hole 1/4" x 3/4" deep. Fill with crackle mix. Glue on the end with Nitro cellulose glue. After rolling prime with glue and BP mix then dip in granulated BP. Never hammer on crackle mix. It's impact sensitive.

You made another mistake by putting the primed end of the star in first dude. Put the thick bottom in first because it will light when the lift charge goes off. Never put the prime end of anything down first. Keep that facing up and it will always light and go up a lot higher before it burst into four

You just need just enough flash to fill a 22 caliber short hull and they will separate nicely into four stars.

So cut off the fuse hole. Make them shorter. Just use a small charge of 70/30 flash with a pinch of 40 mesh magnallium. Experiment with colored flash.

If you do, put them in a canister shell and try not to top off the comets with burst charge and fill the shell about 2/3 of the way up the comets. (just my recommendation)

Your packing the comp to tight. Only hit it twice and take your crosette out. It will slide out easier and want stick and make sure the star comp isn’t as wet as you have it. Believe me it will set up hard if you have enough binder in the comp.
