We were lucky that we stood far enough away, but we quickly learned that fireworks are NOT toys to play with!.... In just those few seconds, it felt like we were standing directly next to the Sun and it took awhile for our eyes to return back normal as well!.... 🤯

@HomeGrownPyro14 жыл бұрын
Lift powder is just granulated black powder. 1.) Potassium Nitrate - 75% 2.) Airfloat Charcoal - 15% 3.) Sulfur - 10% You need to buy or make a ball mill if you don't already have one and mill the 3 chemicals together for at least 5 hours (that's assuming you have high purity chemicals and an efficient ball mill/lead grinding media). The type of charcoal you use is an important factor. Willow charcoal has produced the fastest/most powerful black powder for me. Eastern red cedar or pine also work well.....but any charcoal you can get your hands on will work, you just have to vary your milling time. So if you use a lower grade charcoal like mixed hardwood, you will have to mill that for 12-24hrs to get your powder burning at a sufficient speed. You have to do your own burn tests though to determine your mill time due to all the variables such as ball mill type, grinding media and chemical purity. Every few hours, stop the mill and take a spoonful out, lay it out in a line and light one end of the pile. You can look up vids on here to see examples of how fast BP burns and slow BP burns. Slow BP leaves a lot of slag and residue on the ground or surface where you burned it. Something to remember is granulating the BP makes it burn faster, so if you can't your meal powder to burn fast, granulate it, let dry for a day or two and burn test it again and see how it does. Hope this helps.

Qussan ye to be honest I can’t quite believe it either. It’s actually very easy finding the chemicals online as most of them are unrestricted. If you’re a Brit trying to source the chemicals I’d suggest inoxia or amertek and eBay will also most likely have what you’re looking for. However I had to get a licence to buy potassium perchlorate . As for the equipment (shell casings, tubes, tooling etc.) that might prove a bit more difficult as they can usually only be sourced from America. Overtime I’ve managed to get my hands on most of what I need by just having a really good look online or by buying off eBay sellers (which come and go). Good luck to you and stay safe

Hey Kiddo , I'm stuck In the 90s I guess, got a couple questions. Flash burst, there's a few, which do you use. Please warn about chlorates in your directions. Your pasting shells is so much different then mine. I made 40 hour builds for my 12s and never got these working well. What Prime did you use? Dextrin bound? step prime? Those stars look large there not chlorate are they? I usually kept color to 3/8 in including prime with perc colors. But as I said my large shells worked, and placed well but inserts and anything under 4s don't. Give an old guy tips Ok. how are ya at all the other pyro I have been doing for over 45 years.?. B.P.
@afbennett30382 жыл бұрын
Flash burst is 70/30 perchlorate to eckart dark aluminium powder. My pasting method was just improvised really, it’s seemed to take the least effort and gives me very consistent bursts. If you’re interested in how I made the stars, I have a more recent video showing the details of the process. These ones are about half inch And relating to your other comment about being from Florida, I’m from England

There is heaps and heaps of firework making advice to be found online. If you want to avoid blowing your fingers off I would recommend getting stated with the fireworking 101 videos by Ned Gorski which give a very detailed guide to pyrotechnics. For compositions and guides on making certain devices I usually use the pyrotechnic info section of the cannonfuse website or pyrodata. As long as you know what risks to look out for you should be able to learn without having any accidents
