A fun, cool car is what makes YOU happy. It may not break any records, but keep life fun for you and your friends. Since I was 16, fun cars I've owned include a 66 Chevelle, 47 Chevrolet Sedan delivery, 53 Gmc 5 Window pickup, 62 Ford stepside, 63 Ford stepside, 66 Caddy hearse, 76 Ranchero GT, 2008 Mustang GT. None of them were fast, but I enjoyed every one of them. Yes, we had "regular" family cars and trucks, but they didn't create much for fond memories. I'm now 70 years old and derive a lot of enjoyment from watching the Wichita KZbin Car Cabal.

@redherring3952 жыл бұрын
Looking forward to seeing how the C5 turns out and how the new tune works out. My opinion (for what it's worth) on the car's, driver's and teams at the Texas race is that you have amateur driver's and teams who are on a limited budget with car's that are making pro level, NHRA power and the amateur teams just don't have the budget, experience or resources to maintain the car's at the level they need to be at competently compete on reliable level for the length of this type of event. From my experience, at any type of event there is, at best, only a handful of car's that truly stand a chance of winning. At the level these car's are performing at, compared to the budget, resources and experience of most of the teams, the majority of the driver's are doing nothing but tempting fate and in way over their head IMO.

You can have fun in any car, as long as you accept it’s limitations. I used to drive. 74 VW bus around and it was great for what it was. I once beat a manual 98 Camaro with my stock 89 Civic at a stoplight. He missed a gear and stalled at the light lol. Good memories

I know what you mean about power now. In 2010 I had a Saab 9-5 2300cc that hads modification to engine, turbo, ECU, exhaust system, suspension, brakes and lightweight wheels. Produced 304 bhp, and could be pushed hard through bends. Could beat most "German" cars of the time. Now 300bhp is nothing to talk about (it was in 2010). I miss those days too.

JR- I think most of us have gotten to a point where we are a part of a scene, but, that "scene" keeps evolving and changing, and we make the decision "I can't keep up with this anymore", or "I don't want to spend that kind of money on this anymore" and eventually "It was so much better back in the day"..... happens to most of us.
