That’s sweet man you guys made a ton of progress on this thing pretty quick! Awesome to see it running, when said & done I bet this things gonna shred lol. Hey quick Q tho Im curious what did you have to do to get an 80e into Goldie & working properly? I have an 03 5.3 Silverado that I’ve been slowly modding to get the hp & tq up and I’ve been kind of debating on whether I should build the 4L60e that’s in it now or swap in a 4L80e, to hold the power. (Witch my end goal is about 600 WHP, 750 WTQ). Going off what I know and little research I’ve done, building a 4l60e for this may be a bit silly lol so I’m definitely weighing more on the side of an 80e swap so that’s why I’m wondering.
@SniderTron30005 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's not even worth building a 60e. So many people have dumped tons of money into a stage 420 60e just to blow them up. 80e just needs a mount, Nelson conversion harness, maybe driveshaft(mine worked, just needed a new yoke), converter or flexplate depending on how you go, and I had to replace my ecu because it wouldn't accept a segment swap
@kcscustom97595 жыл бұрын
Yeah I’ve seen that a time or two that’s why I’m really pushing away from it, Id really like everything to still be somewhat reliable at least. But no shit that’s not bad at all. Thats one thing I was kinda wondering about because I’ve seen people say they were able to segment swap & use their stock ecu, and I’ve seen people that have had problems with it like you just mentioned. So I didn’t really know what to think about that but by the sounds of it, it just might work if I get lucky. Thanks a ton for the info though dude super helpful! Definitely gonna go for an 80e now, Im exited. This 60e been driving me nuts lately really looking forward to getting the pos out of here. I didn’t really wanna rebuild it to begin with Im just really getting sick of the classic 1-2 shift flare along with a solid clunk when shifting from 3-2 😂 smh.

Could it be because the wire is 13ft long? And you were attaching it to the fuse box... another 5 feet from the juice? Can you hook up a relay from the fuse block then connect to the battery through that? I'm assuming that its the signal wire to the cpu that needs to see a minimum of 12-13 volts or something like that before it'll turn over? The starter or fuel pump have juice while your cranking if that helps.
@SniderTron30005 жыл бұрын
The red wire is just a trigger wire for 2 relays in the new harness. It doesn't have to supply full power to the coils it just needs to turn activate the relays and then those will send full battery power. The issue is *somehow* after the first place I had it it got hooked in to the same spot the fuel pump was hooked it and it couldn't supply enough power for the pump and the relays. Also, we're idiots, so theres that too 🤷♂️

I'm sorry that GM ever went with FWD for most of its vehicles by the mid 1980's, since even the LSx motors, especially with a 2003+ Chevy van oil pan, etc they all but go right in, if discussing physical fitment. Being that the cats were left off, along with three out of the four O2 sensors, I just hope the PCM doesn't develop an attitude.
@SniderTron30005 жыл бұрын
Cats and rear 02's were deleted in the tune. And the pcm will just revert to a table for what to do without the drivers 02 reading. Just like it does when one goes out
@piercehawke80215 жыл бұрын
@@SniderTron3000 that's def good to know since I may be swapping in an LSx into a 1980's minitruck. I'm fast coming to the conclusion such a swap may be less hassle than going with a SB Chevy 350 and, being this Nissan's OBD I, not having to hassle with four O2's would be easier to deal with, especially if I decide to run single exhaust with one cat
