You are right in some way . Investing at right timing of particular stock pay consistent dividend and steady capital growth overall long time .RHB and Public Bank may be the right one at this moment

If you are embarking on dividend investing strategy, dividend yield is an important metric. Otherwise you are not doing dividend investing. There is nothing wrong about that, whether you should invest in high dividend stocks or not, but DY is important. It just that one should not just look at dividend yield alone, but other things as mentioned by you. In my opinion, if high DY is accompanied with low pay-out ratio, and growth in revenue, profit and dividend. This ensure the sustainability of dividend.

That’s right KC. Thanks for sharing! Ideally high DY + sustainability metrics are the best. But they’re hard to find sometimes.

I am kind of surprise on your comment that FPI's share price has been "sleeping" although it is giving increasing dividend payments over the years. in the last 3,5 and 10 years, its share price has increased with compounded annual return of 27.9%, 13.7% and 16.4% respectively. Those have not included the high dividends it has been distributing. Were these returns bad as implied?

Ah apologies, I think my gesture came out wrongly. By sleeping, I mean that the share price did not follow as tandem as their profits and cash flow growth. This is excluding periods of Covid-19.

I believe they are referring to certain periods eg: 2010-2012 ,2014-2016 , 2018-2020. Of course overall, it's still generates a commendable returns from 2012 to 2022 if your investing horizon is longer.
