I am in my 20's and consider myself a dividend investor. I have watched numerous YT videos that advocate for a more aggressive approach for young investors. However, I personally do not favor that strategy. While it is true that I could potentially 10x my return if I make the right stock choices, the likelihood of that happening is very uncertain. I prefer a cautious and methodical approach by investing all of my money in well-established blue chip companies. The snowball effect of reinvesting all of the dividends has proven to be quite remarkable. I have accumulated a significant amount of wealth that I never thought even possible if I had not begun investing years ago.

Being aggressive on certain stocks is unwise. What happens when these stocks fall like a ton of bricks e.g geopolitical events, trade embargoes, bad management decisions, competitions,weather changes,etc.

I feel dividend investing is safer and you can also diversify by buying bonds, fixed income funds and money market. You can also invest in EPF and ASNB

Well I know people that do dividend investing that can yield them multi baggers of stocks such as RCECAP, UCHITEC, MAYBANK and APOLLO. Also, this strategy is inflation adjusted as the share price and earnings should grow in tandem with time given their growth in business.

yes, any strategy will do well if you pick the right stock. What we are emphasizing is timeframe. Generally, dividend investing takes a long time to accumulate wealth, slow and steady. But if you are full-time researcher of the stock market, you should be using a different kind of approach: finding companies with great catalyst and preferably at the shorter period of time. Example, discovering YTL Power before the pump. Of course this is not for everyone, because it depends on your personality.

Well that depends on your personality and style. We know some young guys love investing in dividends and we also know Buffett invested aggressively in his 20s. That doesn’t mean you should follow them blindly but to develop your own style of investing.
