This dude is smart as hell. He looks at things from many angles. It's people like him with his ability to say ' wait, let me really take a look at this, let me look at this from his [Hermans] angle etc'. He didn't let his pride get in the way of him hearing herman out. Then Trucker Brown did what Herman did for him. Trucker Brown made this video to share this story // technique of how to mid max your potential. Would love to learn from Trucker Brown as my mentor. Be safe bro you have a new subber also =).

Well, just know it's a new age in trucking - you can find many p&d & ltl companies local home every night weekends off jobs paying 20-25 an hour doing approx 50 hrs a week - OTR is cool if you WANT to do it, but is also often for those that simply know no better

Trucker Brown, I think this is my favorite video of yours yet. Great nuggets you just shared with your audience. I've been working in a similar way ever since I got off my trainers truck a couple years ago and I have made over $1000 more weeks than I have made less than 1000. The clock management and time management and working well with the shippers and receivers is so crucial. Not taking long breaks is crucial. My goal has always been run atleasyb 500 miles a day and don't waste clock. No when a company's pay plan and maximizing it.

Sean O'Rourke Sean, this is kinda what Im thinking. Im just starting cdl school but 1000/wk doesn't sound all that great to me. Once 70hrs is divided into that, forklift drivers make that an hour in many warehouses.

Otr drivers not getting paid for drop and hook, pretrips, gas stops, the 2 hr load and 2 hr unload time, and if you blow out your clock, or dont have enough hrs ro run a certain load, guess what, just sit at a truck stop for next day or two (basically unemployed). I no longer blame trucking companies as much as I see the real people to blame are us, Americans. We want the best salaries and benefits for ourselves , and want to receive goods and services at slave prices if not free. And that's where China comes in. So if Mr Jeff bazos wants to charge 15 bucks for lousy gay eye liner or makeup, he can, because it's his business and he's got to make a profit, but Mr BAZOS OF AMAZONIA will try to find the cheapest truck to haul his garbage. President g w bush tried to build a bridge for Mexican truck fleets to operate freely inside USA. Guess what at rate of 15 cent per mile

Stop thinking like a low level employeee just cause “your on the grind” or “at least he’s trying to provide for himself instead of relying on the government” that mentality will stay with you then it becomes a norm even 1000 dollars a week is underpaid I use to make 1500-1700 a week working local flatbed for years and years but then I bought my own truck with my own authority and then I was only screwing my self all those years working for somebody I started trucking when I a few months into turning 21 I’m now 33 the your trucks your company is an investment but there good and bad with everything my advice is to start right away with the mindset to not drive for anybody for more than 1-2 years don’t make the mistake I did I wish I could have started my company when I was 24

if the receiver dont do on site parking, you can also off duty drive out of there after u get unloaded. but u have to go in the opposite direction of ur next load or any direction IF u dont have a new load. all the time will go to your 10hr break. also ask everyone connected to ur load if theyll take it early.

Tricky Trick I believe the Qualcomm reads driving after like 1.5 miles of driving off duty. It automatically goes to the drive line

I know I’m two years late on this but … Near the end: “It don’t matter what company you’re at. That’s the way it is.” He’s not talking about trucking companies. He’s talking ANY company, including your own company. Grow up and take charge, learn the system inside and out, be professional, courteous, and kind to people you work with and make real human connections; pay attention to the world around you. You will prosper but more importantly, you’ll be happier because you will be more actively engaged in your world, and the world around you. Shit will still happen to you, but it will happen less, and when it does happen, you’ll deal with it better because it will fit into a context you understand, rather than coming out of the blue.

Yup I stopped pushing like that years ago plus working off the clock is Illegal anyway, if someone hits you or you hit someone else driving around on sleeper and havent started your day yet your fucked if you have a camera in the truck. I don't know where the first part of my comment went. I was thanking Trucker Brown for the insight and a well done video which can definitely help a novice out. I drive a special needs bus for Portland Public Schools and I have decided I love driving and am going to do this. Traffic in Portland, Or is horrendous and anyone who has driven through knows how ugly it has become. I feel for you truckers trying to get through the city on I5

Company driver gets paid detention time at shipper if delays over 2 hrs. Say If it takes 1 hr to load and 1 hr to unload, that's 2 hrs of no pay. Multiply that by the number of loads you will do in a year, and total hrs will be staggering. Mileage pay averages a truckers pay to about $15.50 an hour. Driver can be savy, snap his fingers and hustle to save times, but he is being robbed at the end of day

Don't let it all be about money either. Have time to eat healthy, work out and take care of yourself. Money is good but it's not worth sacrificing your health over

Exactly. I used to run my butt off both solo and as a trainer and made really good money but also ended up becoming a type2 diabetic. Now days I'm solo and make time for workouts. There's excellent money to be made in trucking but it's also the work possible job you can have to be healthy.
