Did you have a good set of throws at the meet? Hopefully you got to see the elite folks throw. I think that would be astounding. I threw in high school back in 1979-1983, but wasn’t a standout. I enjoyed it though.

a lot of it is in the whip, look at where his upper body is when his left foot places and how quickly he gets around to the release

Always amazing to watch how he dominates, and I'm saying this as a New Zealander born in Timaru, hometown of our best thrower, Tom Walsh. As mush as I would like to see Tom actually get a gold medal at the Olympics (he got bronze the 2 times Ryan got gold) I do have to admire how much better Ryan is to everyone else.

Given the height and weight difference, RC should out-throw TW by some distance, but the actual margin between their best throws in competition is surprisingly small. Pound for pound your Kiwi putter is probably the better thrower. But it's distance that counts of course and Ryan Crouser makes his physical advantages work for him. For young throwers looking for a model technician, Walsh is the one to watch.
