My mom got sentenced to 6 months when I was 18 back in 2012 she was in Peterborough. Not her first time in jail but was since having me .. that first visit broke my heart 10 years on I still cry thinking of it worst few weeks of my life not having her with us. She always says it’s harder for us outside then it is in there. Thank god she hasn’t returned again her life since the age of 16 was shoplifting not addicted to drugs or anything her addiction was the shopping. I hope your video can bring some hope for those about to face prison as I couldn’t imagine that feeling I hope to never experience it 🙏🏻

One thing I also remember is the brown fingers from smoking roll ups my mom is a cigarette head embassy fags so to go to roll ups was a come down for her she spent months and months getting the tobacco stains off when she got home my dad would always have a say about it on the visits. Even at the age of 18 I’d sob like a baby having to leave her there. I still have my birthday card off her from inside it definitely does hurt your loved ones more I’m crying now just thinking of it 😂

That’s okay. And yeah defo let them know if you are struggle. You won’t be the only one feeling this way just make sure you engage with mental health if you need to. This will all be explained to you how to and if they don’t just ask. The prisoners will support you too. You will be surprised how much they do help. Honestly after a few weeks you will find these symptoms will go or calm down loads. It’s the unknown that has probably brought them. Just remember you are not alone in there. There is help so use it x

Hi fran, i was wondering if i could ask advice. Someone very dear to me is currently held in remand in bronzefield. Their finger prints suddenly were removed off system, resulting in them not being able to access their pod, so theyre essentially cut off from choosing their dinner and anything else you'd do on this pod system. They aren't even been given meat for dinner. Is this a form of revenge or bullying on this person in remand?

Do you have their prison number? If so you can Google email a prisoner. You will need to credit a min of £5 enter their name and prison number and what prison they are in and then you can send them an email I thinks it around 45p and 25p for them to get a blank reply sheet that they can write back on and the prison will email it back to you. If you don’t know their prison number you would have to write them a letter with their full name, post it and hopefully the prison will get it to the right person. If you don’t want to send an email but you do have the prison number make sure you put that on the envelope with their name it will get to them quicker than without.

I’m completely nonplussed as to why. Imprisonment is to detox you, remove you from society (and often a violent male - 40% of female prisoners have mild brain injury through DV), in order to help socialise you into a better environment to become a worthwhile citizen. Mothers have a mother-and-baby unit and mums are allowed frequent visits of older children in a non- prison setting. Most criminal acts are non payment of fines (convicted of shoplifting £30 worth of goods, judge orders her to pay £300). What else can be done to help them?

Female ex-cons have complained “Transwomen” in their cell block completely change the dynamic. He will not allow the nurturing sisterhood to flourish. He rules the roost and if you don’t do as he says, you’ll either be seriously harmed, or accuse you of deliberate “misgendering” which gets your sentence extended.
