The machine you thought was a fan is an air purifier. And there is a higher hook for the shower nozzle on the door. That bathroom looks pretty standard for Japanese hotels I have stayed in. The less expensive ones are all going to be small compared to US standards. But much cheaper even when the exchange rate isn't in our favor.
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend 6 ай бұрын
Yes we realized there was a higher shower holder the next day. I realized the machine was an ion purifier but with Google translate it had a fan option as well and I put it on the highest setting. It blew nice cool air but it was not that strong. Maybe it translated it wrong. The hotel was great and I'd stay there again.

Thanks for sharing your journey.I am starting from Hokkaido and ending up in Osaka on my trip Sept.One thing I dread watching your video, is the Lines, and they look faster when they walking or moving to get to their location. I got to get in shape.
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend 6 ай бұрын
Yes that is one thing about my trip. Lines everywhere. Everyday was 21-22K steps so be prepared to walk with stairs too. Also the Kansai International Airport is the most disorganized chaotic airport I've ever been to. Be prepared to stand in line for 2-3 hours. From checking in your baggage to the long lines at the security (their TSA) and immigration. Be sure to get there 3 hours early on the dot otherwise you may miss your flight due to the never ending lines! Next time I'm flying out of Narita instead.

Aloha Misty and Aiden!! What a way to start your Osaka trip.! I am digging that black jacket and those Shitake mushrooms looked sooo good!!! I am a sucker for 711s in Asia and I'm glad you showed it. I really wanna go to the Universal in Japan now. I prefer them over Disneyland and the Rainbow Bridge in MarioKart threw me back right to my childhood. Glad you to do the Mario Kart and the Pokémon restaurant was super cute. Even if the food wasn't good.. It's IG worthy to take pictures. Lol . But my favorite thing in your whole video was the Pistachio Churros!!! Oh my gosh. I'm going to Japan now😊 Look forward to your Japan series. Please tell Aiden I said hi👍🤙

Aloha Sean! Yes the rainbow road was awesome! Just like the video game. We really wanted to ride the Harry Potter rollercoaster but it was closed. Dang. One day I'd still like to go to Tokyo Disney and Sea. But more for the cute food. I wanted to go to the Mario Cafe but it opened at 9 and our timed slot ended at 910. Bad move on my part. Yes the pistachio churros were cool! But the anime stuff only lasts for a limited time and then they change the theme on that side of the park. 😊 I told Aiden you said Hi!

So excited to see you guys in Japan! I'm obsessed with all kinds of Japanese food and food culture. Osaka has a foodie saying "kuidaore" meaning go bankrupt from eating whatever you want. Great food city but really anywhere in Japan....Fukuoka is all about the food stalls (yatai) 🤤. The dollar is nice and strong there too so the quality you get for the price is mind blowing 👍. Mr. Aiden is so lucky to adventure with his mom, the laughs and hollers you guys made on the Mario ride were funny, great quality time👌! I love how you incorporate all the kiddo activities (but from your comments sounds like you enjoyed all the fun, kawaii things too 👍😉😄)! Loved this travel vlog, can't wait to to see the other vids!

The food was exceptionally ono! However the people were not as nice as people portray. Maybe it's an Osaka thing. I would like to try Hokkaido and Tokyo to compare the interactions with people. There were surprisingly a lot of rude folks we dealt with which makes it not one of my favorite countries I've been to.

I was surprised to hear Mandarin during your yakiniku restaurant review - must have been. Universal Studio Osaka looked like it was delicious, and fun, for you both. Ohaiyo Misty !!! We visited Osaka and other places (Taipei, Okinawa, etc.) ... on an 11-day cruise in October 2023. We enjoyed Japan and it's much cheaper than in Hawaii or CA. We went to Kura Revolving restaurant (Big in Japan) in California. Each item was $3.75. In Japan's "Kura" prices depended on what you select.. and cheaper than $3.75 !!! Japan used-to-be expensive but with the stronger US$ things are cheaper. DougK

Wow! You and your son in Osaka! They have a saying there: “Eat until bankrupt.” - kuidadore. If you go early enough, there’s an outdoor grill below the giant king crab where you folks can snack on the best, freshest, grilled crab legs. Don’t forget to try the takoyaki, okonomiyaki, and kushikatsu. Kyoto is for fashion, Osaka is for food. Can you tell I miss Japan? 😉

Thanks for taking us on vacation with you and Aiden! Your first day looked like a little of fun, and you’re right, the snacks at Universal Studios seemed to hit the spot! The Pokémon Cafe must have been such a treat for Aiden. Did he enjoy his curry? The presentation was adorable! Last November in Kyushu we picked up dessert from Mr. Donut and I just had to get the Pikachu donut because it was too cute! It was quite yummy, and while I enjoyed my donut the rest of our party thought I was a bit crazy as they enjoyed their more traditional treats. Maybe you’ll come across a Mr. Donut and the Pikachu donut! Can’t wait to see your activities on the rest of your vacation❣️ Hope you had a good rest on your return home!

@FoodFiend Sydney is great (loved the Opera House), but I loved Canberra, the capitol of Australia, even more. The food there tastes so clean. Great food, even at the National Library cafeteria/cafe. Stay at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, walking distance to the library. They had complementary full English breakfast buffet and evening social with appertisers, enough for dinner, easily. Don't know if they still offer the complementary breakfast and dinner social. Wild peacocks and parrots walking around. Huge wild crows staring you down.

When you buy a SIM card from the host country, does this allow you to access their GPS maps? What language is Maps in? Are the train/subway station signs/directory in English? What did Aiden like best at the Pokémon/Nintendo center?
@FoodFiend
@FoodFiend 6 ай бұрын
Yes, the SIM card is for internet only. You cannot call out. You can see texts coming in but cant reply. I use Whatsapp and LINE apps to call home for emergencies. You can also use it to call local wherever you are in whatever country. Japan also has those wifi machines you can carry in your purse for your phone to work, but I feel that it is clunky and out of date compared to a SIM card that is in your phone. You just take it out and put your own SIM back in on the plane before you land for your phone to work at home. The newer iPhones don't need one because they have eSIMs installed inside the phone. The train stations have English signs. Most do in every country. Aiden loved his curry from the Pokemon Cafe and the store where he got anime books and cards. He loved Super Nintendo World at Universal the best and also the My Hero Academia section which you can't find in the USA.
@SakuraSpring
@SakuraSpring 6 ай бұрын
@@FoodFiend thank you so much for explaining the SIM card in detail. You can tell I haven’t travelled out of country ( except to Canada) since the advent of cellphones!😆 glad Aiden found some unique findings. Loved seeing you guys with the Mario hats on the ride. 🤩
