The cross discipline nature of the Tomoe Nage throw makes this technique a must have in your arsenal! The ability to change levels on your opponent with force and purpose changes the game and tips the scales when transitioning from standing to ground. Tutorials found online tend to get bogged down in the minute details of where and how to grip, this easy to understand breakdown takes the mystery out of the technique!
Simplify and Add this attack to your game with this easy to implement concept!
CONCISE AND INFORMATIVE
Just like his KZbin channel, this video cuts the fat of frivolous explanations that are only applicable to very unique circumstances. Instead, he presents you with a broad, proven and effective approaches that can be utilized across your entire judo system. His in depth explanations remain tailored for the judoka interested in leveling up their game.

Hey man, thank you for the great vid. Ive recently started both Judo and JJB simultanously and love to combine them especially doing links with takedown into submission and such. Recently a judo black belt did a nice Sutemi Waza on me, would not not know exactly (ans sorry if the name is wrong) which one and was very helping trough the randori and explained me how he did it. During JJB randori some guy I usually roll with tried to take me down from my legs and offered me a great position to do this kind of "sacrifice" takedown, I managed to gently threw him over me, on his back, while using momentum to roll over and land on him in mount position. He actually really liked it as it was smooth and got me to a good position and asked me abt it, but another guy came in and told me that I could not do that bc it was forbidden to land someone on his head (which I did not though), I did not went to the coach to ask and just continued the randoris on the ground, I wonder if you, or anyone here knew if this kind of takedown were ok in JJB ? My understanding was that any kind of suplex was out to protect the neck and back, but in that case I just rolled him over me using his momentum, so I wondered it was a legit takedown for JJB or not, bc it just felt like super nice to score takedown + passe guard with little effort if the pther guys tries to push you too hard Thanks again

Sensei, I love the reverse Kata Garuma. Would you know a strategy to do that no gi? Also, is it correct that a drop kata garuma is now illegal in sports judo? And just a check question is there a specific reason you drop to your knees and not to your hip (with your leg streched - like the old school judo competition kata garuma), or is that only because the move would be a bit more difficult?

I find it absolutely hilarious how both Judo and BJJ originally came from the same style, Japanese Jujutsu, in the early to mid 20th centuries they diverged and specialized, how each set of practitioners created a huge rivalry arguing back and forth that BJJ is better, no Judo is better, and now in the early (leading into mid) 21st century we see both styles recombining into a single style because by themselves they were too incomplete. I know I shouldn’t find it so amusing but I do. I know, that’s an oversimplification, but seriously am I wrong with the overall point?

Yeah but also the hyper specialization made each game (standing and ground) way more advanced than Japanese Jiu Jitsu could be and has allowed each art to develop and focus on which techniques work best. The levels judo and especially bjj are at compared to even 20 years ago is insane and I can only imagine it’s way more so than JJJ

@@zevstarr-tambor7084 yes indeed, they only said that it "look" more like Uki Otoshi, and i do agree. And even so, moves can be done in a not traditional way and still be the same move. Just look at the De Ashi Barai tutorial from this same channel, he does it in a very different way from the traditional one.

Why waste your time with BJJ (basically just Judo) when Kodokan Judo is the real deal? What does BJJ have that Kodokan Judo doesn't already have?
@Lagspikee

Because they are different sports? In terms of training methodology, Judo splits its focus on 80 percent stand up and 20 ground game, whereas BJJ is the opposite.

@Lagspikee

@@bustercrabbe8447 With respect, I think you're moving the goal post. You asked why anyone would "waste" their time with BJJ and I gave you one. If I'm an amateur MMA fighter wanting to learn how to grapple, picking up Judo in the Gi would be a slow way to learn. You would be learning a lot of gi based techniques you couldn't apply to mma, plus it takes a long time to get even moderately good at a Judo. Learning a combination of wrestling and BJJ is as equally effective and takes a fraction of the time get proficienct in. There's a reason most MMA gyms follow this approach.

@bustercrabbe8447
@bustercrabbe8447 11 ай бұрын
@@Lagspikee If you want to learn to grapple instead of newaza learn to wrestle. BJJ has nothing to offer that Judo doesn't already have. In fact BJJ is basically just Judo. Go to Scientific Wrestling to learn grappling methods from the experts. Judo is not Wrestling because Judo has a different pedigree. Judo is not jiu-jitsu as Aikido is not Aikijitsu as Judo is not Wrestling. So if you want to waste your time on the mixed martial arts (MMA) I would suggest studying catch-Wrestling + boxing + savate (or Muy Thai) + weight lifting + steroids. Quick and easy way to be a ring fighter.
